minnkota maxxum holding course?

I have a minn kota maxxum that is verry loose in the pedal and will not mantain the position i set it at when i take my foot of the pedal.
Is the soloution just to crank up the tension screw untill it stops moving of its own free will or is there another way?

You can take the slack out of it by tightening the tension screw.

Cable steers will never retain position like an Auto Pilot, unless you have a pair of thongs - and you jam them either side of the pedal to stop it rocking. Those are called iThongs - you can get them from BLA.

The plus is, though, that you can keep course by just standing on it. Cable steers can be driven without looking at the motor every time you change direction.

Cheers,

SM
