Hi guys what is the difference in size between shimano and daiwa reesl?
eg how big is a 2508 or a 2004 steez in comparison to say a 2500 ci4? Cheers |

The Shimano 2500 in size sits between the 2 daiwas ie. little bit bigger than a 2000 and a bit smaller than a 2500. The Shimano 2500 is not a shallow spool model though.

A 2508 Daiwa looks a little larger than a 2500 Shimano. The spool diameter is slightly larger. The line capacity is considerably less though, as a 2508 has a much shallower spool. A 2508 Daiwa is physically the same size as a 2500 Daiwa, which is slightly larger than the Shimano equivilent.
A 2000 Daiwa looks a fair bit smaller than a 2500 Shimano, but not as small as a 1000 Shimano. Capacity wise, a 2000 Daiwa will hold less line than a 2500 Shimano. If you're only interested in the capacity of these reels, I suggest you have a look at both Daiwa and Shimano's websites. Shimano will list the reel's capacity for Powerpro, whereas Daiwa lists the actual braid diameter capacity instead. It's easy enough to convert one to the other when you know the diameter of Powerpro. Mick |

Thanks guys, its the physical size that i was wondering about. I find the shimano 2500 to be an okay size but would probably prefer a smaller reel like the daiwa 2000

Depends if you want more of an "allrounder" reel or something specific. Note that the ci4 2500 has 7kg of drag which is the same as my daiwa redback 4000 which easily twice the size !!!! If the amount of drag is no concern, you still won't go wrong either way. I use both 2000 size daiwa's and 2500 size shimano's and am happy with both.
What rod are you looking to strap the reel to ?? |

At this stage was looking at a X-820dsi (1-3kg) and matching it up with a 2000 or 2004 size daiwa steeze
And may also be looking at a 7ft steez rod with a 2500 sized certate or steez. But unfortunately im nowhere that I can get my hands on one to see how much larger they are than the 2500 shimanos that i am familiar with. |
