Fly reel help

Hey guys
I went flyfishng the other day and noticed my fly reel was beginning to show signs of rust. So i took off all the line and scrubbed/ washed my reel with water and have just taken it apart and sprayed it with inox. the reel is a manic Torque fly reel.
What should i do next??
do i need to soak the line in water to get all the salt off it???
pls help

I wash my line after every trip. I just use warm water and a towel. I've herd if blokes using mr sheen but I dint really trust it. Would be interesting to know what everyone else does. inox works a treat on the reels.

I usually strip the line off into the sink filled with warm water and a little detergent to get the salt off then rinse it with fresh water and dry it through a towel as I wind back onto the reel.
You could then use a line cleaner if you wanted to make sure it was as slick as possible.
I have heard people use armourall on lines as well to rejuvenate older lines. I wouldn't use it on a new line though.
I think Mr Sheen is a silicone wax/polish. My understanding is some lines love this others don't. I Haven't tried it so can't really comment too much other than to consult the manufacturers website and check out what is actually in Mr Sheen before you use it on the line.
I might give it crack on some of my older/cheaper/crappier lines to see how it goes. That way if it melts them or turns them sticky its not a huge loss.

Where was the rust? just on the spool under where the line sits? Inox should protect it going forward, suspect it will be hard to fix though.

you will most likely need to wash it down really well as it might not be designed for salty stuff it looks more like s freshy trout reel

yep, that will happen to reels not designed for salt water use. had it happen myself.
now its started you probably wont stop it completely.
if you dont want to spend heaps on a high quality reel for the salt, buy a graphite one.

Just listened to Neil Youngs latest effort with Daniel Lanois - very atmospheric and a great listen, although a little short timewise only about 35 mins. Highly recommend it if your a fan of his. PAT.
