Baitcaster under 300?

Hey guys i am wanting to ugpgrade my baitcaster reel in a few weeks.
Im looking at something under 300 or max 300. I will be mainly targetting mangrove jack and trevally in the estuary. And if i get a chance to do some freshwater fishing maybe barramundi. What would you guys reccomend?

You can get a Shimano Core 50 imported for around $300 now. Light weight nine bearings and a beautiful little reel with 5 kg of drag perfect for what you want it to do.

Shimano Curado 50E - A complete workhorse of a reel, nothing really compares in that price range.

Where did you get that from, does it have warranty?

Yeah, where did you see a Core 50 for $300? TW USA has them for $399 plus postage. I'm not sure if Shimano Australia will cover warranty for an overseas puirchased reel?

It you are able to order online, get the new Chronarch 100.

E7 would be the ideal speed if you do plan to chase trevally with it, just slow it down for the Jack.

They retail at Tacklewarehouse US for $199 + Postage which I'm guessing under $50.

So spare money for some Braid.

PowerPro or Sufix are my choices.

Check out ebay there are several sellers from both the USA and Malaysia that are selling them for between $315 and $330 posted. Last week with the stronger dollar they were $295 to $310. As far as warranty goes, I do not know but those prices are close to $200 off the RRP here at the moment.

Might be a bit different now due to the stock market being so poor now- I guess it one of those things you have to keep an eye open at the right time! But still a good discount compared to the aussie market
