DA Luvias roller bearing

I noticed my line roller was not spinning this morning when I went for a little flick. I pulled it apart and found its a open bearing inside two rubber bushes. I oiled the heck out of it and it spins freely in my fingers. When I put my reel on my rod and pull out line it starts and stops. It seems to be getting better but It is annoying. The first 3M of line I pulled out it wont spin on the drag pressure then it starts spinning freely.

I don't know whether it could be the braid? Its 4lb basshard. I found bits of orange coloring on the inside of the roller that I thought may of blocked it up a bit. I am putting nanofill on soon anyway on my rcs spool. But I wanted to get it sorted out. I don't know whether there is any possible upgrades to do to it ?

Mine is doing the same thing and I'm running Nanofil on it. Probly slightly worse than yours. I think it's stuffed. I was a bit lazy on the oiling a forgot to do the roller bearing. I think the salt water has stuffed mine??

I just took mine out for a spin, I had a snag and loaded the road up and let the drag pull out some line and it didn't spin?. It turns when I wind in though...

i just bought a older silver luvias that had the same problem. if the roller design is the same, when you take the line roller and bearing out also take out the plastic washer that sits on the bail arm side, give it a real light sand on the outside edges and the face sitting against the roller, that should fix your problem.

Mine is wedged in by two rubber seals with a open bearing sitting inside one of the seals. I don't think its removable or changeable. bugger...

this is the black plastic washer that i was talking about, its a real pain to get out so i havent removed it off the bail arm but it was all roughed up causing the roller to stop working when under load. i had to pry it out with a screwdriver and some pliers then gave it a light sand on the edges and the face. when i put it back in it was all good.

Guys, I replaced a rollerbearing in a mates luvias about a week ago and had similar issues when reassembled, you have to make sure if there was any metal shims on either side of the bearing, the go exactly back where they came from, these shims gap the outside casing of the rollerbearing and stop it clamping down once screwed together

I pulled it apart again today to give it a good grease up. Here is how the bearing looks others can compare. I still could not push the bearing out of the rubber ring without feeling like I might not get it back in.

First pulling it off with the bearing inside the roller.

back of the roller

bearing and the rubber ring removed from the roller.
