Shimano Sustain FG - Release date?

Has Shimano announced a proper release date for these reels as of yet - either Australian or American release date?

I've heard somewhere between September and November?

So keen to get my hands on one.

That's a long wait,.. 4-5 month tease.

Agreed Track 'em Down, was originally gonna get a TP, and was hoping for one this ICAST(Seeing how the previous model discontinued) but the new Sustain suits the bill perfectly!

Plus will look better on the GL3 then the TP, so double WIN.

G'day my first post! I'm sure I seen on YouTube one of the Shimano guys at icast saying September? I can't wait for the 1000, the weight of the reels seems to be all secret so they must be very light! But Stradic ci4 light? I hope so! Hints anyone??

It has a Ci4 rotor, which is stronger then the standard graphite rotor. Which was on the previous FE model.

Which I'm hoping has a aluminium frame, I'm thinking with the stronger rotor. They might make the sustain a workhorse reel instead of a finesse reel.

Time will tell.

The FG definitely has a full aluminium frame and sideplate, and yes the rotor is Ci4. If you are looking for a workhorse reel, I'd stick with aluminium rotors, but the Ci4 rotor should still be able to hold up to some serious pressure.

Anyone know if it will come with a spare spool or not?

Definately picking one up to match with a Samurai 201 in the future.

Unsure wether to go 1000 or 2500 size. Thoughts?

Thanks for clarifying.

Yeah, a metal rotor would be better. But the previous Sustains where very tough regardless with the graphite rotor.

Should be a sweet bit of kit.

$329 - 1000, 2500, 3000.
$349 for the 4000.

Check out TacklewarehouseUS, they have the release date, said to be in just a month time, however it seemed it been delayed until December 13th.

Some reels like the new Chronarch are available right now, besides the 6.5 Ratio models which have been delayed to be released at the same time as the Sustains/Stradic's.

However, this is America, who knows when it will actually be available in AUS.

Perhap around Christmas or early next year is my guess..

I'm wondering how the 1000 and 2500 will compare to the Mid-High end Daiwas like the Certate.

I'll be tossing up between these and Certates for sure. A spare spool is the big selling point for me for shimano. Also the fact that their servicing centre is fairly local to me.

And the black is just too nice.
