Reel to match 2-6lb samaki zing.
Hey all,
After going to a sale at Barra jacks I picked up a samaki zing 2-6lb 2peice I tried a 1000ci4 on the rod and it felt almost perfect a litle bit tip heavy but could stick a thick washer on the butt. What reels are others using on this rod? Also how do the 1000 size stradics go any issues with braid/wind Knots etc. I'll most likely buy from eBay as there around 170$ delivered. I'v got a pflueger supreme xt2500x (yank model of the aussie xt) and as is the case with most pfluegers their 2500s are about the size of a shimano 1000-ish. Its weighted really well, but if you were looking that way than I would go with the Supreme MG (base model) IMO the MGs are a way better reel than the XT/XTX

hey mate, in regards to windknots on the ci41000, you shouldnt have much of an issue. just make sure the bail is closed properly all the time and the line hasnt crossed up over the drag knob.
other than that they are a pretty good reel, however one thing to look out for is north south freeplay in the rotor as mine has developed a little bit more than it used to have. Not really an issue to most, but if you're buying for 170 i cant see it being too much of a problem. dont forgot you wont have a warranty if you buy from overseas :S |

Have you looked into the Shimano Rarenium FA Ci4?
Had a play with these and they feel very good. I'd rate them over the Stradic and from what I've seen. Alot smoother and no feel of weakness what so ever. Will eventually grab one later in the year.

I just bought a zing too. If I had the money I'd get another. I also have the supreme xt (yank model) and tried it on the rod. Not too bad. I also have a rarenium 2500. Awesome reel. But the one I like on it is an abu soron stx 1000. Feels really well balanced and with 4kg drag you can't really go wrong. These are only guides though. You should take it back to barra jacks and try a few different reels on it to see how it feels.

Hey guys, im lookin for a reel to balance on my Pflueger Patriarch XTR 2-6lb. Was thinking of the Supreme XT 9225 and the Patriarch 9525. The Supreme is heavier at 6.3oz and the Patriarch 5.6oz. What do yous think?

Which one? The 6'10" or 7'6".
If it's the 7'6" I'd go a Daiwa Gekkabijin MX 2004 or a Luvias 2000. The latter I can speak for personally, the former is about the same weight.

Hi there,
I own a 2-4kg zing (or is it lbs...cant remember ) and I have it matched upto a stradic 1000 - the normal one - I love it for throwing hardbodies around structure such as bridges/pontoons and laydown timber/mangroves. I have it spooled with fluro which helps keep the hooks into fish. I also have a stradic ci4 on another rod; and would recomend either to match upto the zing - I guess it comes down to personal preference In regards to another anglers mention that they have had a problem with 1000 sized reels and wind knots, i've found that if you manually close the bail over when the lure touches down it will reduce the issue of wind knots forming; I've also found that some brands of braid tend to knot up more than others eg td sensor braid for me is awful compared to PE braid which doesnt wind up half as much.
