Received my stella today, its really is the best reel I have ever touched. IMO there is a huge difference between the 2007 and the 2010 models. The new model requires much less effort to turn the handle, feels like a daiwa there. But it somehow feels more solid than the old one. The reel still holds the classic smoothness that all stellas are renowned for. Hardly any noise is heard when the reel is spun, just like the old model. If you really want the best there is, then look no further.
Also, to any other owners, is the spool clicker meant to be that quiet? It is very quiet compared to the older one. Last edited by DaiwaFreak; 11-05-2011 at 09:02 AM. |

Yeah i have heard that the clicker is very quiet from a few others. Such a great reel. Pitty they dont make the stella with a shallower spool like the daiwa 2004 or 2506 size spools. I reckon they would appeal a bit more to the finesse anglers. well done with the purchase, you wont be let down

They make all Stella's with a shallow spool option.
Shimano Australia in their infinite wisdom don't import them. |

2011 stella is the best reel IN THE WORLD.
I used to only purchase daiwa reels (exist/steez,certate) and was always 'like what ever' to stella's but these new bad boys rock my jocks! Until daiwa comes up with something as sexy as the 2011 stellas, they will unfortunately see very little of my hard earned wages. I am wanting to purchase a new reel for my Kirisame, it used to have a 2500 and a 2004 exist on it. Both reels where perfect on the rod. I am now considering a jdm 2000hgs. As I have never seen a 2000 stella, is anyone able to shed some light on there size comparison to a 2500/2004 exist? They weight as much as the new stella 1000, and am worried that when it arrives it will be to small for my liking. |

"As an option"...... so you have to pay an extra $120-$150 just for the shallower spool?

Or is it a standard option? I have the shimano australia catalogue but it only shows a 1000,2500,3000etc. Where on the net I have seen the model 1000pgs and 2000pgs which look like shallow spools, are these only available in japan?
