Post my new tinny build up, lots of pics

Hi all,

As most of you would know I had the opportunity to upgrade my boat into something a bit more family friendly. The goal was to have something that was setup for all the bream comps but also enough room to take the family out with me. Anyway, after a bit of searching around I settled on a Stacer 399 Proline, it ticked all the boxes for size, stability and useability as well as price. After a bit more looking around I found a Suzuki DF30 electric start at a good price and decided to go with it. Anyway, on with the pictures.

They new toy the day I picked it up

Then I set about cutting up some 20 x 20mm square ali tubing to make all the framing for the boat, I had my layout in my head and just went with it. It will all make sense in the end.

Then it was time to start tacking in some of the harder bits before I sent it off to be fully welded.

Once they were tacked in, I set up the rest of the bars in place and took the boat down to David at Mathos Engineering, an absolute top bloke who went out of his way to get some things done. The boat was welded up in no time and they also made my livewell for me aswell.

Then it was a matter of cutting all the panels to fit the framework and carpeting them all, what an exciting job the carpeting is, I think next time I will get someone else to do it. (Thanks Charlie) Hahaha

While Charlie and I were carpeting the panels it was time to send the boat down to get the motor fitted, I also wanted electric trim and tilt on the boat so I purchased a CMC PT-35 after market unit, this unit also give me a 5 ½ inch setback and about a 2 inch lift on the motor making it run a bit higher in the water, only time would tell if I made the correct call. When I got the boat back it was time to do the wiring up, I wanted a switch up the front of the boat to operate the livewell pump, nav lights and my sounder wired up so set about installing it all. The next problem was where to put the fuses etc for easy access, I came up with a little hatch next to the switch box to solve the problem.

Now, with all the wiring done, it was time to fit all the panels and finish off the job.

And the storage

The trim and tilt unit with the motor fitted

And the finished product

Took it out on the water for a run in and water test, I was quite pleased with the results. It cruises along quite nice, the trim and tilt comes in really handy and on the roughish day I was on the water got up to 27 knots across the chop. Now its ready for its first serious fish.

a big thanks goes out to Mathos engineering for all the welding that he done for me and also to Charlie (csfish) for the late nights spent at my place helping out with the boat.

See you on the water.

Nice work mate. I have the same boat except with a side console. Also have the same CMC unit on my boat, it was worth every cent. Just had my casting decks done and live well installed and its an awesome boat to fish out of.

Your going to love fishing out of it!

Looks good mate, but I can't help thinking that it doesn't look like you sealed the ply panels before carpeting. Wet carpet a recipe for rot there.
