Best size reel for straight through fluro?

Not sure if this should be here or in the lines section.

I have decided to give straight through fluro another crack after some very mixed results. What I am curious to know is what size reel is better for fluro line management. I have reels in sizes 1000-2500. What I am thinking is that a bigger size spool will allow the line to not sit as tight on the spool and thus has less memory/line lay/knotting issues?

Cheers

I find a 1000 sized reel is perfect for light line fishing, as this reel is matched to a light rod and light line - it makes sense to use a light weighted reel. Maybe a stradic 2500ci4 would be the same weight and you would get the benefits of longer casting?

yeah i think a smaller reel would be the go.

For the most benefits id go smaller then a 2500 shimano. I find the shimano's can be a little too highly geared for the super finesse applications that straight through would be used for.. not saying you cant use one but it's prob not best suited to it.

I'm going to buy a 1000 stradicfi for my straight through fluro work and also have the other spool set up with light braid for topwater.

From my own experimenting I have found what works best for myself is a 1000 size exist body but with a 2004 size exist spool, same rotor so also fits. I think the equivalent shimano is a C2000 size but feel free to correct me on that one. Benefits are ease of use in super finesse applications with the tiny weight and the improved line handling of a larger diameter spool.

I like a shallow spool for straight through fluoro, i have just bought a Shimano Soare 30 2500HGS and spooled it with Sunline FC sniper, personally like the larger spool for distance casts on the flats.
