Whats the difference CI4 1000F & 1000FML
Can someone please explain the difference between the Shimano Stradic Ci4 1000F and the 1000FML ??

fml has a shallower spool. witch meens its lighter but has less line.

the 1000FML (the ML stands for micro line) also has less drag it only has 2kg of drag and they claim it is specialy designed for light lines... I have both and they are both great, however I don't think you can get spare spools for the FML yet...
if you look at the specs for the reels they almost weigh the same only .1oz difference.. Last edited by pyrorico; 13-02-2011 at 06:38 AM. |

You'd have to check the schematics and have a look at the spool support. On some reels the shallow finesse spools have a second bearing, so that it's supported on 2 bearings. The spool shaft will have a slightly larger step machined in it for that bearing to sit on.
The stop may not allow the deep spool to sit on the shaft at the correct depth, as it may be drilled to accept the smooth shaft of the 1000 model. |
