JMT Bass Boat

Well Guys, after a long time the boat finally arrived a week ago.

Have been getting it ready for the first comp. First off, let me thank "da man" GeoffP for coming over and sorting out the livewells. I didn't know what the hell I was doing and Geoff had it sorted pretty quickly. Your a legend dude!

Here's some pics taken yesterday.

By the way, took it out on Sunday and it rocks! Even managed to get used to using the leccy.

Josh,

Not yet dude! Sunday's run was a bit of a shakedown to get used to it and how she handles. Also, mainly for me to get used to using the leccy. Had a quick flick around barrack st but didn't get anything.

This coming weekend will be spent on the the water 24/7 I think.

cheers

Dam !!!!!

Thats a fine looking rig. REAL FINE !!!

It kinda looks a bit like a compromise between a US bass tournament boat & a balls out bream machine.
PLEASE ....... Please tell me more about it. Where was is built....
is it plate alloy or what ?
What other features does it have & that much feared question...... what did it set you back.

Oh baby...... thats a nice looking boat !!!!!

Hows it ride into a chop & how high are the sides ?

mukka

Mate, it was made by Mark Tirrell in Noosa QLD. As Samurai will testify he can make a quality boat. Check out Samurais website for more details.

I had Mark do some mods to it before it got here. Basically, the fuel tank is now underfloor and the front "old fuel tank" is now the front livewell (90-95L). Got a 60L at the rear as well.

The hull is made of 4mm plate. As said earlier it's pretty stable as well.

Hope that helps mate.

Talking The Keg!!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention the one outstanding feature of this boat! The inbuilt Keg. Hard to believe but it's true.

Mark had built into the front casting deck a washdown tank with a small handheld shower rose. He said that he used to fill it with either beer or bourbon&coke with ice.

How's that!!

Roll on summer!!

Not as much....

as you would think Trouty! Including transport from QLD just under $17k. I've poured a bit more into it since then, but not much.

This was Mark's boat and is now nearly 3 yrs old.

cheers

Thumbs up Crikey I thought it was a brand spanker

Looks like its never been used!

I did a rough tally, of what I reckon it weighs, and with a couple guys on board it has to go the tonne!

I figure roughly:-

Hull 400kgs
Ob ~ 100 Kg's
Fuel 90Kg's
Livewells 100 + 60 = 160 KG's
Batterys 2 = 25Kg's
Console & seats 50 Kg's
2 guys ~ 150 Kg's
Troller motor 25 Kg's

Theres a tonne without looking too hard.....

IMHO This is why these plate boats need plenty of HP - 40 or 50 clydesdales at least.

Gotta make ya wonder how you get it on a 750 kilo single axel trailer with no brakes eh? (Don't worry mines the same!)

I guess minus the two passengers and livewells it might just scrape in under 750kg's on trailer but it'd have to go close.

Take it from someone on his 3rd gearbox rebuild in under 2 years - you don't want to tow this thing in 5th gear O/drive!

At 2 grand a throw I coulda bought a LOT of boating & Fishing equipment if I wasn't always keeping my mechanic in the lifestyle to which he's grown accustomed!

Best make sure you got something with some real balls to tow it Timsy...hate to see you throwing good $ away on mechanical bills like I have been of late. (3 gearbox rebuilds and a new deisel donk = 10K)

Cheers!

Thanks Trouty

Mate, as usual your a wealth of useful info.

I believe the boat is about the 630-640kg mark on the trailer.

I've got a Landcruisier to tow her around, so I think I'll be OK.

PS if you've calculated 150kg for 2 guys then you ain't seen me. That means my non-boater will probably be about 12yrs old and no more than 30kgs

Cheers

Trouty, these things are not as heavy as one might think, my CCC is the same size as the JMT but all up weight icluding trailer is only 550ks, that's will tackle boxes and a full load of fuel.
