phlueger Patriarch XT, DROOL!!!

well i have been looking for a new reel. and saw this. the specs make it look really nice. with 9ss bearings, carbon handle and arbour, and eva knob. also has a full titanium main shaft. waterproof carbon drag. so very light. and very sexy. has anyone got one or used one as i am seriously considering buying this beauty. and for only 300 and weighing a mere 158.75 grams should make a deadly bream weapon.

aren't reel with a Magnesium body prone to corrosion in salt water?
wasn't that the issue with the first batch of JDM Steez and why they were for freshwater only?

My magnesium pfluegers had mixed issue with corrosion. My Supreme MG had a couple of pockets of corrosion forming under the surface, but nothing major. My Supreme XT was fine, even with a chip in it exposing the bare magnesium.

I can only suggest you pair it with a Pflueger Patriarch XTR rod, my god they're brilliant.

Just bear in mind that the 25 size @ 158g is absolutely tiny. Smaller than a Shimano 1000... If you want something around the size of Daiwa 1500-2000 you'll want the 9530. The 9530 is 176 grams from memory, lighter than a Steez.

Matt.

I've onlyed played with one in a shop, so I can't really comment too much.

The 9525 didn't feel that smooth, but the other sizes felt good. Quite smooth and very free spinning.

The Exist Steez Custom (with the magnesium handle) was the freshwater model only, the normal Steez that we know is saltwater safe.

Is the Patriarch meant to be better than the Supreme XTS? I have played around with the Supreme XTS a few times and to be honest I wasn't really impressed. Hopefully this reel will be different.

My Supremes didn't overly impress... The XTS was just a riced up supreme. The patriarch is a newer model, but I would hazzard a fair guess that the internals are identical to the supreme series.

Hmmm... So I shouldn't get my hopes up then. I reckon the new Abu Garcia Revo spinning reels should give some of the mid range daiwa and shimano's a run for their money. The Pfluegers on the other hand, not so sure.

How do you compare the Revo Cast control to say a Curado E Series Cast Control?
