shimano anti reverse problem
hey i took apart and serviced my dads shimano nexave and lubed it up but i cant get the anti reverse working (parts r all there) i didn't lube the anti reverse set up. I've had it all apart and i just cant work out wat's wrong.? Can anyone help

You may not have actually lubed the AR bearing itself, but check that no nearby lube got into the AR bearing as that will make it slip. Also while it might sound silly, have you tried the AR switch to ensure it's in the correct position?

haha yea i've played wit the switch. I've put all the anti reverse parts in thinners type degreaser stuff and dried it wit tissues bit by bit but still not happenin

Did you actually disassemble the AR bearing itself? If so it sounds like you haven't reassembled it correctly?

Sounds like you want to test the AR bearing itself-find something of compatible diameter to the pinion and put the bearing on that and test it-you want to know if it's locking or not.

yea it locks lol i dunno mayb its not grabbing. Can the cylinder bearing things get worn out?

How old is the reel and does it get a lot of use?

dad won it prob 5 years at most ago and its been his main 1000 reel till he got his stradic and he used it heaps, i think he even caught a few mulloway on it so yea

I'd pull it all apart -the AR bearing and the reel-and reassemble again and see what that does. Logically if the parts' working properly then reel assembly must be the issue. If that doesn't work then either send it to shimano or get them to send you out a new AR bearing.
