Daiwa Australia are unlikely to want to do much to a reel that was purchased outside of official distribution channels. You could certainly try, but if they do anything to it you're likely to have to foot the parts/labour bill.. I would imagine?

How exactly does your 2500r feel? How would you describe it in comparison to the certate 2004?

Can you elaborate? Woosh, grind, whir? Most reels will make some noise, there are moving parts going nuts inside.

In a perfect world perhaps.. In reality I think it's a lucky dip.

Example of my experience:

Stradic Ci4 1000 - Smoother*
Stradic Ci4 2500 - Less smooth

*I had a look at a couple of 1000's in shops and neither were even close to as smooth as the one I purchased. In fact, the other two 1000's were less smooth than the 2500.

Symetre 1000 - Less smooth
Symetre 2500 - Smoother

Medalist 6035 - Less smooth
Medalist 6040 - Smoother
