Lures mods.

Hey fella's,

A few questions on what lures people tend to mod. e.g. Hooks, splits etc.
I've recently been adding an extra split to the back of my surface lures, and removing the middle treble in the hope it will increase the hook-up rate.

So far, yet to notice a difference, also been seeing a large difference in adding a feathered treble to the back of my lures. Really does make the action a whole lot better IMO.

Also, thinking about buying W hooks for my bigger surface lures for fishing weed ingulfed waterways to avoid any weed catching.

Anyone else, modify the treble and splits on their lures to increase the hook-up rate? Also, what are your opinion on W hooks. e.g. What size for most lures and which brand.

Thanks,

-Pivot-

How does removing the middle treble increase hook up rate? I would think less hooks would decrease your chances of hook ups.

+1... more hooks more chance of getting a hook up from a strike.

have you tried running a gama or decoy single facing backwards on the middle ?

you need the right size though because they are a bit longer then the trebles.

IMO the Gama W hook is best as the hooks are splade out further and wider

I would be sticking with the trebles pivot... There is hardly any W hooks available that are suitible for heavyer applications like barra ect, There seems to be a massive jump from bream-game with the W's. I havnt realy heard of singles being used to often with the barra aswell?
