Surface lures

Hey all,

Last week I got a few really nice fish on surface (Dog-x Jr's)

Anyways, as soon as the ripple on the water became a chop, the bite shut down totally. Usually when it gets choppy the bream fire up?

Not sure looking back on it whether i needed to try some poppers to make more noise, or whether i need to try a bigger heavier walk the dog style.

Anybody have a go-to surface lure when it gets choppy? (Top Dog, Zipbait Fakie Dog)

Cheers

Mick.

Yeah, time to change up if the bite drops off you should have more luck with a popper in the chop that's usually the next port of call.

Thanks guys - i've got plenty of stock standard poppers but that walk the dog action the lure makes gets so addictive to watch........i should have tried a few others that reside in the surface hb box. Next time!!

maybe try working the lure with a more aggressive retrieve; a fast first up "walk" of 2-3m? This will let the fish know that your lure is there, failing that try a skinny pop and work this reasonably hard, this retrieve will get the lure popping nicely
