Scott Park Southern Bream Series

As the Classics can be difficult for us Southerners to make it to we have decided to run a Southern social version to complement whats already happening around WA. The series is very social and will not carry prize money or big ticket prizes.

All fishos are welcome to take part in as many or few events as they like.

6 rounds
3 in Albany 3 out of town
Best total bag of 5 rounds will be the overall winner
You can only have a different crew for one round, but you can fish solo.
Part of the entry fee will become a big part of your membership to the Albany Boating and Offshore Fishing Club.

We would like to get Polo shirts with the main sponsors name on them but these will only purchased once we have the money from all the people that want them.

While the main theme of these comps is fun and the social side of things, there will be rules and if they are broken you will lose your total bag for the round.

AND THE BIG THING IS THAT ALL THE COMPS ARE HARD BODY ONLY, The reason behind this is is to encourage new people to the sport and stop the need for a big bag of both hards and softs.

Nov - Sat 6th 1-6pm in Albany

Dec - Sat 4th 10-5pm in Walpole

Feb - Sat 26th 3-7pm (BBQ afterwards) in Albany

Mar - Sat 12th 12 - 5pm at Torbay

Apr - Date to be set to coincide with the Ocean Spectacular

May - Sat (to be set) in Bremer Bay

$20 per round for non members (If the entrant decides to become a member then $10 from each entry goes towards their membership)

$10 per member.

Teams can drop one round so five rounds used to produce a total weight.

Hard bodies only (some contention about this apparently)

General info more detail to come.

Good work Stu, cant wait!

How come the session times vary? Some of them seem to be a bit short?

Cheers, Jack

Hi Jack

Times are different to cater for travelling time and create a varied series.

Just different to ABT and the Classics.

an overall total bag weight turns it into a 6 day tournament that should sort the men out from the boys.
i'm interested in seeing how it goes, good luck all, i wish i could fish it.

Stu I love the idea. I was only just thinking today we need to get some more comps going. The hard body only thing would be hard tho, yeah its good fun but where do ya draw the line... HB, baby vibes, metal blades, ghost blades.... I like keeping it social, but there will always be someone who will fish plastics or have the urge to... JMO

There was some heated debate over not being able to use plastics but we have decided to suck it and see this first season. Our hard body definition includes blades, vibes, HB's etc, just no plastics. True, people may still sneak some plastics but if people are entering with their only desire to win then we really don't want them as we are focussing mainly on the social side of things.

We would also like to see some of the younger crew develop their skills in using HB's in all seasons. Yes it will be tough but so was the Albany ABT even with plastics.

We have also gone for something a little different were our team of the year is based on cumulative weight over their best five comps rather than one good bag on one day (not having a go at the classics in anyway just trying something different).

As i said earlier we will trial it and see. Maybe some parts will be great and some not so but we need to give it a go.

Stu

I think it's a good idea Stu, as are the times. Similar to what we used to do with WABT. Looking forward to it.

Stu

Just to make sure everybody understands - from the Classics point of view I have no problem with this series at all - absolutely welcome it; different rules etc give it a try, good to have variety and best of all gives me chance to fish some comps.

Yep thats good enough for me, HB's and vibes/blades it is. I guess its good not having to cart all the extra gear around. Bags and tubs of plastics and jigheads...

"Teams can drop one round so five rounds used to produce a total weight.
"

Correct me if im wrong mate but is this saying the total weight for each team will be an accumulation over the 6 rounds?
