Hi mate
Try a few short sharp lifts, maybe 20cm at a time, followed by a pause while the lure flutters back to the bottom. I usually count to 10 (longer/shorter sometimes) and repeat. Leave them on the bottom with some slack line, and when you see the line tighten, strike and set the hooks.

Oh and one last thing. Do i tie just a normal knot to the lure or loop knot??? Alternatively would you recommend a snap instead??

No question is stupid mate
Maybe check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s9xTwZSHh0 - dizzy borg explaining how to fish the tt blade, which in theory is the same as the big eye blade. This might make things a bit more clear for you. I just use a regular knot to join the lure to the leader. Do you use leader? I wouldnt reccomend a snap - I find them more fiddly than tying a knot. cheers, Dion.

Try the retrieves as the other guys have mentioned, as they will work on bream as well as Flatties,as well as some larger species like Mulloway.
If this fails dont be afraid to try some other retreives. If you have used plastics prior to making the purchase, give the same retrive a crack. The retrieve will depend alot on where you are fishing and the depth you are fishing this style of lure in. If fishing them deep, let them sink under their own weight, and watch the line till it stops... carefully.. as alot of the takes will be on the drop if in deep water. The best thing to do is get out there and give them a swim.. Good Luck |
