5' - 5'8 Rods

Hi guys,
Im looking for a decent 5' - 5'8 rod. Now while the Struddie is really nice at this stage its outa my price range. Prob I have is that there really isnt much exposure for rods 1-3 or 2-4 in this size. I saw a nice Graphite USA blank at the boat show but the finished product doesnt have Cork grips (which im now kinda partial to) for around 250.
What im trying to find is something else to compare it to that guys either know about or use.
Fire your suggestions in guys.. Im prepared to look at anything.
Its going to be a SP close quaters rod

Anglers Anon

Bubba,

Check with Quentin at AA, I know he's made Sewelly a CQB rod just under 5 feet from a Sammy blank. They'll probably be able to do one for under $200 for you. HTH.

cheers

Hey Bubba was that the 5'6 UL??
i spoke to the lady at the GUSA stand who was the wholesaler, next to the Complete Fisherman stand (who you have to buy through) and they cost around $100 for the blank then about another $100 to get it made plus what ever guides/ grips you want.
i doubt that you are restricted to the synthetic grips that she was using - probably was just cheaper. but still depending what guides you get you are looking over $300 at least.

i also agree with Timsy - check out AA also check out Urban Angler in Ossy park- they do custom jobs with sammy blanks for around $280 i think, which were very nice. speak to Steve Browne im pretty sure that he just had a rod made from there.

YEah thats the one Ev.. What I ment was the production ones will have hypalons. You can get cork ones put on but she is charging an arm and a leg for them. I do like the blanks but I also want to see what else is out there so I can get a good idea before I blow another rod .. 4 that im not really happy with gets kinda expensive ;(
