Can anyone offer any opions or recomendations regarding Millers' 'Bream Buster' rods. How they compare with other top shelf rods?

Hi Munga, just so there is no misunderstandings let me say from the get go, I'm sponsored by Black Diamond rods, now with that out of the way lol.
I have never used a miller bream buster but have used several of millers barra rods and they are no where near as good as the custom loomis or B/D barra rods, but are a hell of a lot more expensive. I have used a loomis custom bream rod and the B/D breamreaper both are excellent rods, there seems to be a lot of hype around miller rods, but big buck and a lot of hype does not mean that they are the end all and be all of rods. So before you race out and spend those hard earned dollars check out all three brands, you might just get a pleasant suprise. (and save a few bucks) Cheers Samurai |

Yeah I agree,
Ive heard great things about the BreamBusters and all the guns in the Eastern States use them - so they must be pretty good, but I agree with Samarai that for the same price you should also look at Black Diamond, Loomis and even the Heartland Z`s (if you can find some) they all have something to offer, and in saying that good luck in choosing between them all it wont be easy. Myself, I have a Breamreaper and a few Heartland Z`s, and have seen some awesome loomis`s, and I personally rate them all thats why I think Im going to end up with some of each. ![]() once again compare m all and see what feels the best. cheers

I don't think the price difference between B/D rods and the Miller Breambuster is that great, (under $100).
Quick question for the Black Diamond camp,- are the Breamreaper blanks a custom rolled blank (like the Breambuster), or are they done on a commercially available blank?? Are B/D rods custom made for each person to their own preferences?? or is a custom job more $$$?? FATMAN |

Well not to sure what or who the Black Diamond camp is, but my post to munga was about, my opion!!, I use the rods that suite my style of fishing and recommend them because I choose to, and again (my opion) if the rod you use and are happy with does the job to the standard you want it to and it did'nt cost you a arm and a leg.
I can't see whether it matters that it was rolled by a comercial roller or by african pigymies, to me rods are a personal choice, I chose my rods because they do the job I want a rod to do, I don't choose them because some high profile rod maker built them or because this guru or that guru uses them. Im not the one to be asking about who, how or where B/D get their blanks from, I could not careless as long as they do the job I ask of them and their quality is up to the standard I expect of all my tackle, be it rod, reels or lures. Thanks for your replies, I am an East Coaster & a lot of guys over here use the B/B's but it never hurts to get opions from other fishos about their experiences & knowlege about things. I was just curious if anyone had used both/all of the top shelf rods!
Unfortunatly you can't have a fish with each before you buy!!!!!!! |

Samurai,
Mate I know your just offering 'your opinion' to Munga, hey , I'm just giving him some food for thought (my opinions). My thoughts would be if someone wanted to spend $400-$500 on a top rod, would you spend it on a mass produced rod, or would you have one custom built by one of the top rod builders in the world?? I'm not saying that Breambusters or Black Diamond are the top or best rods, ( but then again between the two they pretty much fill all the top spots in the ABT) but I will say that I prefer the BB over the B/D in performance, re-sale value and the fact the BB can be personalised to the anglers requirments. But as they say, each to their own FATMAN |

You could contact Matt Fraser to see our bream, bass and barra rods. Email Matt, I believe his address is in his profile on this site or go to our website www.blackdiamondrods.com where his details are available.

Hi Fatman,
I wouldn't call the BD rods mass produces. They are hand assembled by Steve Ross. While they are not personalised, both Cindy and Steve appreciate feedback about the rods and what people think they need to change. If you're interested to know more about the blank, check out http://www.batsonenterprises.com/index2.php Well worth the tour. As you say, in the end it's a personal choice. Just don't limit yourself. Try and get out with the guys and try theirs b4 you buy. Make sure you take your reel when you look at the rod. This can make a big difference to how you may think the rod feels. Take your time. HTH.

I would like to add to the comments on personalized rods: we can and have done special orders. Anglers only need to ask. This is an advantage to our Australian factory. Even our production rods are offered with various options.

Seems this post has digressed a little...I too would like to hear more about Millers Bream Buster rod
The Black Diamond rods, by all accounts, are excellent however I would just like to be armed with as much information as possible before I make a decision on which rod to buy.
