New and Keen
Just got a 11ft savage tinney and i am busting to go fishin, the weather hasnt been nice enough to hit the bay so i was thinking of hitting Upper Western Port Bay (behind French Island)
I was just after any hints and tips for this area, ie Where is the best place to launch from i looked at Cannon Creek today (behind Qauil Is) and it seems like a nice plays to fish lots of Mangroves etc, but i hear that this area is very tidal and at low tide u can drive a boat around this area ! If this is so what is a good place to launch from, it doesnt have to be deep cause i have a tinny, should i try Tooradin Or hastings or even Warneet ? Also Can u get bream in these areas ? What bait should i use ? what tatics should i use ? (ie fish along the Mangroves or in the channels etc) And what berly should i use ? Anyway thanks in advance, Any info will help |

I'd suggest looking for a couple of books, Westernport is nearly empty on a low tide and many a mariner has been left high and dry in the mud. You really need a decent reference with maps, especially if you are inexperienced in boats and/or the area.
FISHING WESTERNPORT BAY Jack Crowley (PB) ISBN 1-875228-04-7 RRP $9.95 New version of this has Paul Worsteling as co-author and is now bigger and better and costs $13.95 Creeks & Harbours of Western Port by Richard Hawkins Description: A mariners companion and guide to cruising and fishing. $32.45
