Southern Bream Series...Round 2 RESULTS
Round 2 was held on the Clyde river Batemans Bay. 45 boats and 18 kayaks took to the chocolate brown water.
Team Culburra Bait and Tackle 2 won it for the boaters with a full bag weighing 3.27kg. The $250 Culburra Bait and Tackle / Hobie Cat Big Bream was divided between 2 teams who both weighed a fish of 990 grams, once again it was the boys from Culburra Bait and Tackle 2 on the podium, with myself and Tom, team Bag Raiders, sharing the prize. For the yaks only one person brought a full bag of 3 bream to the scales, weighing in at 1.15kg and that was Daniel Holder of team Hobiesports. Last edited by walloper; 22-02-2010 at 04:22 AM. |

Well done Wal on your 4th place. And was a great day despite the dirty water. Look forward to moving up the table next time.

Good to see the turnout of kayaks,,shame about the low numbers of fish caught tho,,a tough round,,one kayaker was not to impressed with the launch tho (from another forum)
Well my day started at 1:30am today as I had to drive down to The Clyde River.I arrived at the Start location to find that we couldn't get in,This was because I didn't stay there over night. This ment most yakkers who arrived on the day had to paddle about 300m in the dark with no lights and dodging boats on there way to the start.Maybe next year the owners and organiser's can come to some sort of deal about letting in the yakkers if they don't stay the night.I'm more then happy to pay a couple of bucks to cover cost for somebody opening the gate.At the ABT this was a similar arragement but the park gave a code to the ABT to let them in so they could provide a SAFE and easy start for the yakkers. |

All was explained on the entry forms. How far the public ramp was from the start location etc. An early heads up went out too, so people could contact the park, make bookings or whatever. It turns out that the park where the event was run from sell day passes, which give security codes for the gates. I honestly don't know what the ruling on yaks and navigation lights are, we start taking entries from 5.30am, still dark, there's a 3 or 4 hundred metre paddle, some common sense needs to be used, i personally didn't get on the plain on route to the start point, it was a dark morning the Neligan bridge doesn't have a light on it, no lit channel markers either. Responsible navigation is the skippers priority.

No worrys, a day pass would be handy for sure and could be the way to go for kayakers,,seems to be a very popular event i would imagine a lot more will be entering next time.
