ok i need some advice on how many jigheads people think i would need for the two days. i know the importance of having ultra sharp hooks for comps as every bite counts. i will not be using the jigheads i have now. i have bought around 8 packets of TT tounament series jigheads all in the lightwire. i plan to have 2 packets of the following weights:
1/40 hws, 1/20, 1/16, 1/12, 1/8, and 1/6
each pack has 5 heads. do you think this will cover me for the 2 days. i am thinking of buying three packets of each but i am not sure if that is too much.

for the tweed that time of the year, stock up on 1/8th 1/6 1/4. when the tide slows down fish as light as you can. 5 packs of each should do you

It really depends where your boaters want to fish, so its best to have enough of every weight between 1/40 and 1/6. Most people usually fish the deeper water around this time of the year so you will probably use your 1/12s and heavier. But dont leave out the lighter weights. Last year at this comp I ended up fishing shallow water throwing hardbodies and light plastics.
At least 10 of each jighead weight should do you, maybe getting an extra pack of 1/12, 1/8 and 1/6 as you are likely to loose a fair few to snags fishing deep.

NABS is spot on there,

The last ABT i fished at Tweed - Day 1 fished a bit of the session in the deep stuff (for bugger all) and lost every 1/6 head i had, quite a few 1/8 heads too. Went and bought a stack for Day 2 but.......

Day 2 was upriver and I did not lose a Jighead or HB casting to the banks. Also got a couple of nice fish so sometimes it pays to fish the calmer waters away from all the crowds......hey NABS!

Yep thats true, last year I was expecting to be fishing deep water for most of the comp and ended up doing a lot of shallow water fishing, even in the racks on the first day.
If you do end up fishing deep, as Mick said.. Prepare to loose a lot of jigheads.

tweed is so varied you cant really prepare for just one style of fishing

as nabs hinted on

you could fish racks, flats, deep rockwalls, bridge pylons, mangrove banks, boat hulls pretty much anything

Bring all you have but bring plenty of 1/8. a few 1/6 and a good amount of 1/12.

If you are fishing deep , learn to tie quick and expect to lose a few jig heads.
And as a good measure you should offer to retie you boaters lines aswell. and with your own jig heads

The only ever comp i fished was last years tweed abt. Was pretty new to breaming i had 2 cheapish setups and a couple of packets of 1/8 and 1/12 and 1/16 was all that i needed. Fished deep the whole comp except once where we went into the canals and didn't get a touch. A LOT of snag deep especially when your drifting along rock walls. Ran 3lb fluro on one setup and I can tell you i liked that alot more than my braided setup, unless you like tying leader knots all day

a few weeks ago at the bribie abt i was fishing with ben godfrey and he said could use any of his combos
i was donuting for the first few hours, then he said here throw this lure around and gave me his rod. i then hooked up after about 5 mins and he said he has never wanted a leader knot to hold together more then then hahaha

Cmon Mick, thats rediculous. Ive never heard of anyone doing that. Dont think I would like to have someone else tie my knots, especially in a comp.
