I just added a rod rack and holders to my boat, a few of you were asking about small boat setups, so here's mine so far

Dan-
Hey I got kids and they bring EVERYTHING!! . seriously though, I made the shelf 170 mm wide and level with the top of the seats so it can accomadate abut 6 rods laying down, up to 7 1/2 ft long. I put all the rod holders on one side for several reasons, if I have to stand rods up they are all on one side, good place to put a rod when a fish has been caught (instead of laying between seats or on the floor, and a handy place to stand a rod when rigging up.

Bubba-
Use 30x30x3mm angle along the inside of the seat and along the transom. cut some 7 ply for the lid and mount it so it is level with the top of the seat.

This is the hatch open showing fueltank and spares box. You can see the angle around the sides
