Tandem Sit-On-Top for Single Person Fishing ?

Ladies/Gents I've been looking into purchasing a kayak for some time predominantly for fishing but then the occassional scallop drift dive etc in the Port Phillip Bay. I was wondering if any of you have used Tandem sitontops solo, if so how do they handle , hows the balance etc etc.

once your on the water I dont recon you would notice the difference between a single or a double. On land might be a bit different though, that extra 6-8kg doesnt sound much until your trying to lift it onto the roof after a paddle.

I met a guy who traded a single for a double so he could carry his dive gear and he didnt have anything bad to say about it.

Seeing as your in Melbourne try The Kayak Shop in Sandringham and do a side by side test paddle,no charge!

Shoey.

Hide,

Bear in mind that if you only want a tandem for the extra space there are Xos seakayaks with plenty of space for dicve gear.

Also any kayak in the windy stretches can be difficult to handle so if you go for a tandem makesure it has a low profile so you don't catch the wind as much. My first one was a big tandem inflatable and it was nearly uncontrollable paddling into a 15-20 knot wind.

Cheers
Matt

Thanks Gents its not for the extra dive gear and tackle etc, its the other half who believes that she may just come "Kayaking" with me one day. Of course it will need to be a 30+ degree day with no wind, no ocean swell, weed etc etc etc. It will probably never happen , like when I bought my boat it had to be a half cabin so she had somewhere to sit when she came out, 6 years later Im still waiting.
