Killalure for bream?
Hello.
I recently looked through my shed. I found a Killalure that i had bought many years ago, about 10-15years. I bought it when I was about 65-70 years old. It is small about 2inches and has a small bib and is the colour of a carp with a dark head. It is an original made in Australia. It is made of timber. The hooks basically fell to bits when I touched them. I put new hooks and rings which i got from my trout lures. Does anyone elso know this lure? Is it capable of catching bream? I bought it when I first saw a article in a fishing publication where someone from the Gippsland lakes region wrote an article on catching bream on lures. Intially I thought it was a load of rubbish. But after reading a few topics(threads?) I have realise it happens commonly enought that people specifically fish for bream with small lures. I bought this lure so very long ago and I want to catch a bream on this lure to complete something in my life that I started and never finnished. This would mean alot to me. I will get my Grandson Jason to take a photo with his electronic camera and get him to load it on this topic i started. Will a bream attack this lure? Yours in faith Harold |

Harold it may be worth some money believe it or not, there's a few lure finatical collectors out there that will pay good money for old Aussie timber lures with some rarer lures fetching hundreds on E-bay.

No Mark, those have the eyes at the back from what I can see.
I will get my Grandson to take pictures of it and to load it on the computer so you can see. The box is rotten and has turned to dust so I do not know what make it is, but I remember it is a Killalure. It may be older than what I remember. It could be worth alot of money? I paid $8 for it I think. It was a very expensive lure. I also have some StumpyJumpers that I bought from a fellow who owned the Mulwala caravan park back many years ago. He use to make them in his spare time and come to the reception covered in saw dust. Not sure if these are worth anything. They are basic compared to some of the lures I have seen on here. The five of them are still in their boxes and have never seen the light of day. I also got some Mcgraths lures that are still in their boxes. Are these good for bream? They are quite big. I think the killer lure would be good as it is small. I will call my Grandson and get him to take electronic photo's of the Killalure so you can see weather or not it is a good lure to catch bream on. I really want to catch a bream on it because I bought it specifically to catch bream but gave up. I replaced the hooks and the split rings so it is probably not worth much anymore. Regards Harold. |

Also I forgot to ask.
Beni adam said on another topic 'go the old china'. When I mentioned the lure that I have. I am not Chinnese. Why did he think I was China? |

Don't be too sure that it's not worth anything just because you changed the hooks, Harold.
I caught my first Bream on lures last year on a 10 year old lure I had originally purchased to go after Trout! I would be interested to know which State you live in. Perhaps we could go for a fish sometime? I am only 46 years old. Maybe you could show me a few tricks. Good luck using it, whatever it is. If it's less than about 7cm long you should still be able to give it a go. I have seen people catch Bream on what I thought was a massive lure. You never can tell.

"China" is an Australian name used sometimes instead of "Mate" or similar. It goes back to our early days of settlement of the colony.

Oh that is quite alright. I thought before_sunrise lead you to belive it had something to do with the rising sun on the Japanese flag.
I was not in anyway offended, more confused. Tried to find all my lures in the shed. My son thinks that I have them stored in boxes at his place. I have the Killalure right next to me and a Rapala cd3 (gold/black) that is in the original box. This one is made in Finland. I was at a tackle shop today and the young bloke said that they are now made in Estonia, and that I should not use the Finland made Rapala as it is rare and the killalure is the first Killalure design ever produced. He said to be wary that I do not take offers without checking first. But I do not want to sell them. My Grandson is coming over this afternoon to take the digital pictures, I called them electronic pictures before sorry for any confusion. Jason also said that he will take me fishing tomorow. I have been ringing him everyday to take me. He has a family now and does not have much time, but he promised that he will take me because I use to take him fishing when he was a little boy and really wants me to catch a fish on the lure so I will leave him alone for a while. He was only joking. He is a good Grandson. I will load up pictures of the lures soon and load pictures of any fish I catch hopefully. I live in Melbourne Gazza, but if you want to ask me anything just ask. Thankyou to everyone who has replied to my topic about the lures I have. |

Hello.
Yes those killalures look the same as the one I have but mine is different coloured. I have checked and lures that I have are not the StumpyJumpers like I originally thought. They are Legend Lures. They were made by a chap who use to own the Mulwala caravan park. I went fishing today and did not catch a bream. However they did follow the Killalure with a look of excitement. I am sure they will attack this lure. The bream were really darting around it and really looking like they were going to 'hit' it? if this the right term from what I have gathered from other threads I have read. I will be going next weekend and I will go to the same spot. All I need is a bream to lose his cautiousness and take it, and I will be happy. I just want to catch one. Just one more, on a lure. After that I will never catch another in my lifetime. I am not asking for much, I just want to catch one. regards Harold |
