worm fly

used in Walpole

Simple piece of chenille tied to a gama size 6 hook.

Will do some varients of this fly as it was a bit fragile.

Effective though.

Variant of the San juan worm by the looks.

Is it crystal chenille, hard to tell from the photos. Most of the chenille I have unravels when i cut the ends. I have some of the syede chenille which doesn't if you burn the ends lightly.

Is it weighted?

I have caught bream on crazy charlie and baited breath flies but haven't fished for them recently. Enjoying lures. Have recently been flyfishing in NZ and have rediscovered the joy so want to chase some saltwater fish again. Just need to dig all my flies out and hope the hooks haven't corroded to dust.

No weight- just the san Juan style as was mentioned.

Might try the super glue but I doubt it would help that much. Anything with any kind of hardness to their mouth wrecked it immediately.

Must tie more next trip!

Try giving the ends a hit with a lighter it fuses the chenile together and if you melt to much just trim it it back, the fish will think the melted bit is the worms head ,(like on a beach worm).
