New Bream Stick under $200
What would you recommend for a bream rod of about 2-4kg and around the 7 foot mark?? It would be used inconjunction with a Stradic 1000 with 6lb Fireline and 3lb Fireline on the spare. Both HBs and SPs are intended to be used over the flats mainly. I prefer crisper actioned rods because my because my first breaming rod was a 3-5kg Raider!! I want to spend only $200 max because this is sort of impulse buying!!! I have no brand preferences.
Thanks in advance, Isaac |

Have a look at the Pflueger range. The trion and trion tournament range are great rods well under $200, with some great tapers. They have a 2-4KG 7 foot

I bought an okuma precision series 2 peice 7'2" rod. It is a great rod made on an IM8 blank. Great casting distance. Ideal alround rod I reckon. RRP is $130. Bit hard to beat at that price I reckon. It has alconite guides and a split grip.

T-Curve or Starlo Stix Pro IMO. Very hard to beat

I think at the end of the day any rod you get at this price will be reasonably good. Take your reel in and try it out for weight and buy the one that feels the most comfortable to you. Its pretty darn important to get a rod that has a neutral weight so you don't get fatigued wrists after hours of flicking lures.

T-Curve for a softer rod or startlo stix pro for something a bit stiffer. T-Curves are a particular fav of mine, but both rods far outperform my expectations of rods of that $$$$$

Buy quality 2nd Hand
Check the forum classifieds for a 2nd hand Black Diamond, 7' Bream Reaper or Flats Ranger.
You won't want anything else after using them

Sorry to pick on you Justin but, i have never got fatiuged wrists from flicking all day and if i get tired its not because of my rods and reels. i think some people should harden up. my rods do me just fine even thoug they arent as good as a steeze combo or a loomis with a certate on it.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!!!!
A few I've never heard of... Trion Tournament Okuma Precision, any pics?? I have no doubts about the Black Diamond's quality but I'm not so keen on the guides and their spacings (no offence Cindy!!!). Just not my cup of tea!' I don't like the T-curve's actions, a m8 of mine has the 7 foot 2-4kg model and i find it somewhat 'sloppy', again, no offence to the users of them but i was brought up lure fishing with a 3-5kg raider so...!!! I really like the look of the Starlo Stix Tournament Pro Lite Spin, crisp action and a nice arse to boot!!! |
