I have the same boat and pondered the same question quite a bit. In the end I decided that if I did do one then I would have kept the weight out of the front. In saying that Durko has one in the front I think and its no problems, but he has a 4 stroke which is heavier than my 2 stroke so there is more weight down the back and he can trim his.

For that reason I was going to run one across the back and utilise a few holes already around the place, and in the end I just went with a quality esky at around 60L - threw an aerator in it and hooked it to my leccy battery - you just need a good long bit of wiring and good latches/tie downs etc.

Catch 22 though, eskies do have a habit of getting air (even with a 100L in it) when flying around the place - well mine did, and if you do put a livewell in it, it will be good storage for when not fishing comps.

cheers

hey Richo

thanks mate,

have you got a foto of the setup by any chance that you could load up on here.

i take it you use the storage well as storage?

with the cabling i have had 2 dc outlets installed in the boat so i may be able reconnect the aerator cables to suit this.I just may have to get a second battery for all the accessories, as these consist of 2 sounders, marine radio, stereo, 1 dc outlet is used fo a small engel, navigation lights ( don't fish much at night though ) but obviously it is rare for all these to be on and to even get used on the boat, i have a second battery for the leccy but would prefer to leave this solely for leccy.

is there any recommended aerator?

I only have the 395 Explorer Trophy not the 420. I have my livewell up the front which I've been told ain't such a good idea. I have no idea as I don't have any knowledge about these things. Anyway just to say that I am sure in the past I've posted some photos of my livewell but with this new BM forum, I no longer know how to search for an old post. If I recall, Durko's boat looks great.

Good luck.

thanks ,

i have had a sarch thru , but there is so many on here and they are same same but still different, I like Richo's idea of the esky and the more i have seen these setups on the forums , the more it tempts me to do it this way.

it is just a matter of checking correct rules for comps, checking pump sizes etc, i have seen on here that someone had a timer to aerate water that looked good aswell.

i will keep searching for a bit yet!

Mine was just a simple esky with good ties downs/latches, I extended the wiring so it would reach my trojan 130 amp leccy battery (which runs everything for me) and you could stick a timer on it just to make sure you dont forget to turn it on. But using an esky allows you to put it in the best spot. Obviously you loose room and deck space, but when its only a comp here and there its OK. Ive used the 100L foam ice boxes and the various normal eskies. They all do the job quite well.

For boats our size it would be good to have a well permanently in the boat, but I cant justify when you can esky up a lot cheaper. My forward hatch will be seperated into multiple storage hatches..... once I replace all the decks that is (warped within 3 months) and quintrex really sucks when it came to warranty as well.

Top boat though and mine goes ok in Exmouth as well, I just dont get it wet enough though.

I`ll see if I can find a pic of my boat with the well in it. (doubt it though)

cheers

My tubs a bit smaller but i extended the front deck back 300mm and fitted the well in centre with batteries on each side. Balanced the weight nicely
