Loomis Hot shot rods and the question of extra length
Firstly recently read of Loomis Hot Shot rods that are 7'6" in length and these are said to be a good breamin' rod for flats fishing. Any you breamers used this model Loomis?
Is there benefit in having a rod, of 7'6" over a 7' rod? I have 2 BD Flats rangers that cast extremely well. Any suggestions for other rods of this length (have seen the Duffman 7'6") |

Hi there rodmy
I have been using the G Loomis HS 9000 IMX for about 12 years It is still my most versatile rod that I have It is 7’6” and rated for 6lb- 12lb I would match this rod with a 2500 size reel I use spiderwire stealth braid from 8lb to 10lb use leaders from 6lb upwards use jig heads and lures from 1/16th to ½ oz I have 3 of these rods 1 is an IM6 model I have caught so many different species on this rod from large jew, snapper, tuna, jacks, trevally. It is also my favourite bream rod for deep breaming and long casts on the flats The extra length helps with distance as well as hook sets as you move a lot more line with the lift of the rod. For an off the shelf rod nothing compares and you also get the expedient warranty Which you don’t get with others One of the big questions I would be asking if I was handing over big dollars for a rod is if it breaks will you replace it ????? You cant go wrong with this rod And I bet you it would become one of your favourites The IMX version is so much better than the GL2 And the GLX is better again If you have any more questions give me a call on 0412084867 Would be happy to help out
