Hi
I have caught quite a few bream on my little RMG Scorpion 35 in the lower reaches of the canning river but when i try near kent street weir i cant get any. I know their are bream there because i catch them on bait. Why can't I catch them on lures?? Daniel Yeoh |

Have you tried using soft plastics up there? Different locations have different conditions and may require different tactics. I know I've had a hardbody on and got absolutely nothing, only to have a really good session after changing over to soft plastics. If you know fish are there, keep experimenting until you find out what they want, eg different retrieve, different size, different colour. Of course this will mean you will have to go out and buy more lures

Over the weekend at a interesting little river down south I had never fished, I caught 4 in a row one morning but all were on different lures/softs. Black River2sea, 1.75' ecogear (pearl), 2' pumkinshrimp slider and amber 2'fat grub! And I saw 3 of them take it!!
Change it up and "fish smarter not harder"...so some well known angler once said Herds |
