i was there last weekend. fished sunday morning for no luck, but then went out in the arvo around 4 ish and my mte and i got a bream each 37cm and 31cm and i also got smashed by one that took me into the snags and lost it.
went again monday arvo and i got 3 , lost another 2 lures (with fish attached) and got heaps of hits. my mate also landed one and droped about another 2-3. |

ive only fished there a handful of times so im not too familiar withe the area but i generaly fish around the murray bend. there is reaonable ramp there and then you only have to drive a few hundred meters before you can start fishing the snags.
the first time i fished there i was using softs and got a couple of hits but no fish landed, i still havent got the hang of it, but the last few times ive been fishing with the sneaky scorpions and had some good results. i like the hards better for that situation because i was loosing too many jigs by getting snaged all the time with the softs i think the most imortant aspect is to get your lure right into the snags , past submerged logs etc , and lots of twitches like the way andrew howard fishes on breamin 1. also make sure you are fishing in the shaddows as well im trying to get down there latter on in the week for some more practice, hope this helps Evan |

Hi Dave,
A good guy to get in touch with is Ian Bailey at Bailey's Bait Box in Rockingham. He lives down that way and has put me onto a few spots. HTH.

Lads, I was there today with Geoff Paulic and we had an absolute ball. Got a heap and all of good size too.
Saw Geoff Spad and Nick during the day and they were doing really well also. We fished a heap of spots but generaly it seemed the firther up the better it got. |

G'day Evan
Hi mate,
We were using Oar-gee's, I reckon Geoff Spad's and Nic C were using hards of some sort of exotic (eastern states variety, only available through mo-tackle) brand like pygmies. We only used one lure each the whole day, kept the old drag tightish and paid a lot of attention to strikes, dragging them out of the danger zone quickly. Most fish caught were 30+cm and we even got 5 at 37,38,39cm weighing around 1.6-1.8pounds, however I am suspect about those weights, i use a berkley digital scale and I don't know if it is reading correctly. You need to go right up river, Spad's told us that if you go past the bridge you have gone too far, and there is a hell of a lot of river up there between thebridge and the boat ramp. We saw half a dozen fish swim out to nail a lure, all jostling each other for a feed, I saw a lot of my takes which is something I havn't seen a lot of. It was a great day, I will post the pic's of the fish on my web page today so you can see them. Regards Geoff groups.msn.com/ILOVELOOMISS/home.htm

sounds like you guys had a ball - good fishing in there hey
what time of day were you fishing geoff?? its a good thing that you didnt loose any lures, my last effort there a couple of weeks back saw me donate 3 sneaky's im surpirzed with the weights of the fish. usually they seem to be quite fat so i would have thought that the high 30cm fish would have been over a kilo??? when you are taking about the bridge do you mean the one at ravinsthorpe?? im presuming you launched at the murray bend. |

I think so?
We didn't see the bridge we didn't go that far up, we did launch at the bend and we started at around 10:30ish till about 5pm
As I said my scales are a bit dodgy I think, I think most fish were over a kilo or close to it.

maybe there is another bridge closer to pinjarra- i have never been that far up either.
did you try the spots just up from the houses around the murray bend heading towards pinjarra. the stretch is about 200-300m long and there are heaps of decent snags??? that area been the most productive for me. i have also found that the afternoon is more productive than the morning. did you use any softs? |
