Been watching for a few weeks, but never introduced myself. Retired and living in Canberra. I regularly work Lake Ginninderra (mostly redfin) on softies, as well as regular trips down to the NSW south coast. Best fish on softies - Bream 1.8lb, flathead 72cm (no scales), mullet, esturary perch, whiting, octopus, flounder, tailer, redfin, yellowbelly (no cod yet). Use 7ft squidgy rod & eith Okhuma avenger reel (8lb fireline) or Pfleuger Trion (4lb fireline).

Welcome on board Dave!

I'm from the NSW Central Coast, doing my HSC next year. I'm looking at probably coming down to ANU in Canberra next year, and am very interested in the fishing down there, considering I've had no freshwater experience. Am looking forward to chasing some trout, hopefully, as my only fly-fishing has been in the salt!

Hoping to get the chance to meet some new fishermen (as well as university students, of course).

Welcome Dave, good to see that someone is fishing in Canberra, I thought all the fish would be frozen at this time of the year. Sounds like you know what you are doing on the softies with the variety of fish in the bag, we are allways looking for some hints from experienced fishos... Neville
