SABT Port River Bream Classic

As far as organised fishing competitions go, here in Adelaide we only get one ABT qualifying round per season, and we've got a lot of keen anglers here, just sitting back wanting to compete, with no events to enter!

Brian Bochow WAS organising classic events here, but he recently announced that he will no longer be doing this, as he's heading interstate.

Because of the lack of organised competitions here, a group of keen local Bream anglers decided that if we want to compete, it's gonna be up to us to organise our own events, so that's what we've done.

We've called it SABT (South Australian Bream Tournaments) and we're starting off by organising two classic events per season, just to see what sorta interest we have, and then we intend to build from that, adding things like Megabucks rounds, etc, somewhere further down the track.

We're organising these events on a non-profit basis, whereby ALL entry fees and sponsorship will be rolled over into prizemoney, with the organisers pocketting nothing!

For these events, we'll be following standard ABT rules and formats, just to keep everything standardised and prevent any confusion, and we WILL be enforcing the rules.

We've already got the support and backing of the ABT. A local boat club has opened it's doors to host the events, SA Angler Magazine has donated advertising, and we've secured a few event sponsors with even more interest currently being generated.

We've got good anglers here, a great fishery, a fantastic place to host the events, the support of the local industry, and a group of competent and keen organisers on the job. All we need to do now is get word out, and see how much interest we can generate, to FINALLY start to get things kicked off in SA.

Our first event is gonna be the Port River Bream Classic scheduled for 1st-2nd December 2007, held in the Port River ADELAIDE, and hosted by the Angus Inlet Boat Club.

Bear has kindly agreed to post a link where you can download entry forms and event flyers, and further information will shortly be available on www.bream.com.au

We look forward to seeing anyone keen to get over this way for a fish, and keep ya eye on SA, coz we're about to put ourselves on the map, and prove that we're just as competent as our interstate peers.

Any questions can be posted here, or send me a pm! Thanks guys!

Looking good Ranger.

Thanks to you and the team for getting together and organising it.

breamclassics

G'day Ranger I'm glad to see you blokes have started to sort out your organisation. A minor point though needs to be pointed out to you lot though. While it is true I no longer run bream classics in S.A. I do however run Callop Classics still in this state and will do on a regular basis and on a similar format as to what has been established currently with bream formats. My series differs only in that I have no allegience to s.a.angler and my freshwater series has its own grandfinal format which is to be implemented Australia Wide. I will however be around to support your opening comp on the first of December 2007. Please P.M. me on the requirements as to teams and price please.
Regards
B.J.Bochow.

Brian, I'm glad to hear that your freshwater series is gonna continue, coz there seems to be some interest developing after the last round, and I dare say a few of the Bream fishers are gonna be keen to participate in future events.

In regards to the Bream comps, I'm afraid I can't send a PDF file via pm, but you'll see in this thread that Bear has included a link to a PDF file that you can download, containing all the relevant information and cost.

Look forward to seeing you there!

You wont be missing out bloke! In fact, I haven't put my entry in yet either!

Instead of "first come first served", we'll be holding a random draw for starting positions on day 1, so EVERYONE will get an equal chance at a good start.

Chucky,
were all busy either already interstate or preparing for intestate tournaments, but I guess you wouldn't know about that

there are 7 entries as far as I know, none of which are recognized breamers in SA, so thats good news, I know I certainly won't be thinking about it till after the ABT qually GF

hang in there mate, the tourneys are in good hands here in SA...

No issues, no problems, no concerns!

I'm here to answer any questions anyone may have on this event, but as there's been no questions from anyone, I haven't seen the need for me to continually keep adding to this thread or bumping it to the top of the board unless I've got something to tell ya.

If ya stop by any tacklestore in the Adelaide metro area (as well as a few country regions), or flick through SA Angler, as well as a few select fishing websites, you'll see that it's being advertised well.

The event IS going ahead as scheduled, everything is on track, we're looking towards a great turnout, and we're all anxiously awaiting December so that we can get out and have a fish!

Apart from committee/organisational business, all we're doing now is waiting for all the entries to come in, so that we'll have a final count on numbers.

The committee HAS been holding regular meetings to get everything organised. A few new sponsors have come on board, a few more entries have come in, equipment is at the ready, we've been looking at labour and task allocation on the day, and we're exploring avenues of extra media coverage for the event, but that's all stuff for the organising committee to worry about, so there's no need for me to be clogging things up here with that.

Any questions from anyone about the event, and I'm here checking the thread daily to answer them for you.

If there WERE any changes, we'd let you know promptly, but there's nothing to report, EVERYTHING is on track and going fine!

If you've got your entry in, we look forward to seeing you at the briefing on Friday night 30th November.
