Servicing of Shimano Overseas Model Reels

I'm toying with the idea of buying a Stella from overseas. Will Shimano Australia service an JDM SR series or USDM FB series reels? Any comments much appreciated!

I consulted the blokes in my local tackle shop with the same question a while back and they told me that Shimano Australia would not service any Jap Domestic reels. As for the US stella im pretty sure that they are the same reel that we have here in australia because Japan keeps the JDM (SR) for themselves and makes another model (FB) for exports and exports these models around the world.
Hope this helps you out.
cheers

I am in the process of purchasing a stella 4000 and 8000 both from Aus.

The difference you save is made up easily by having to fund any warranty jobs overseas, at least purchased here the warranty is worth something. Ive heard bad things re singapore shops not wanting to know guys when things go wrong, also Plat do warranty but Id not be happy about having to pay for the reel to be shipped around the world and back - who knows what they`d do to your reel.

Buy in Aus, service in Aus, warranty in Aus. Cant go wrong.

IMO one thing goes wrong and they end up costing the same due to postage costs. Extra time away as well.

cheers
