Both are nice and smooth, durable, good warranties etc etc. Applause is a heavy (but well built) reel for it's size. Any reason you dont have the Daiwa Exceller on the list? I rekon they're sweet.

Hey Mate
After doing a heap of reading research and then just going in the shop and picking them up and playing with them I went for the Symetre 1500. I've now got two of them and while I've primarily got them for bream they have also landed an 85cm flathead on 4lb line, a 45cm threadfun salmon, and a bunch of trevally around the 40 - 45cm mark. In those testing situations the drag always ran smooth and even. I reckon they are great value for money and would buy them again.

Against some peoples posts i have gone with the applause.
Got it from anglers paradise cause of the closing down sale. It was alot cheeper than usual - alomst half price! Its got a 'reel' nice solid feel to it and it works alot better than my previous reel. might post up some pics a bit later. Cheers for all your info.
