I Was in the same position as you mate about a year ago. When i was in singapore i found 5 or 6 fishing shops in a row on Beach Road. If you tell a cabby to take you to Beach Road it should be easy to find the fishing shops. Make sure you tell your dad to drop into Sabre tackle as a guy by the name of Po works there. Po has done quite alot of bream fishing down at walpole and you should be able to pick up some things from his shop. that's where i got my stella from
hope this helps
cheers

Hi there,

I'm a Bream fisherman trapped in Singapore. (I have to survive on a diet of catching Peac*ck Bass!)

The stores here are pretty good for things like reels (you can pick up some very sexy kit for around the $500 Sing mark - about $400 Aussie). This includes things like Certates and Airities if you like Daiwa, and the all-new Shimano Sephia. Angler's Outfitters in Bali Lane is a good place to pick up reels like these.

Lures aren't so great (unless you want some really big ones!)

If you want to find out what's available elsewhere (there are some pretty nice Ever Green and Jackall rods), please just drop me a PM.

Happy to help.

bali

hi guys,

was in bali in march and found a place called PuriPancing located at Jalan Diponegoro 127 denpassar ( a cab driver will know ).
this place sells heaps of shimano gear but prices were similar or just slightly cheaper so no go here.
Yozuri products wrer half the price and more , i grabbed 6lb hybrid for $7.80 ( 55000 rupiah exchange rate was around 7000 ), some pins minnows for 42 000, 3d popper 55 000 as some examples.
There was not a large range of "bream" lures but heaps of lures for pelagics

I visited a couple of places but they were really ordinary

cheers Brownie

Yeah I've been to the tackle stores in Bali (Denpesar) and found they were pretty useless but for the occasional small lure that were around half price as mentioned before...

Singapore is bargain paradise though and well worth a look!

You're not wrong there, Richo - from memory the Owners are about $4 a pack! Unfortunately, they seem to have run out of my favourite size 12s at the moment...

Shhhh. Don'ttell everyone the secrets of Singapore. Singapore is a great place to shop for gear. It has the most number of tackle shop per capital in the world. And yes Sabre and AO are great places to be. If u love fly gear- COHO is another great place to shop- just look for Henry. Heaps of places to go just wish teh fishing was better. lol ANyway Mike the Pbs are not that bad. at least the look better than bream.

regards
Darryl
