Is there a blank?
I just wanna see whether a rod/blank exists that fills these three needs:
:7'-7'6" in length (I'd much rather prefer 7'6") :1-3kg rated (1-2kg would be better) :1/32oz casting weight or lighter (I'm casting unweighted tiny plastics on flats...it has to be a very light tip) As you can see, I am going for ULTRA-light flats breaming. I mean light. I'm not so worried about brand or price, as I just want to see if it exists yet. ![]() Help me out guys.

Fisherman#1:
If you don't mind me mentioning this, we actually have a 7ft rod 1-3kg one piece with ultra short grip so there is effectively more useable rod length. I have it on sale for 339 and it is a CCPlus. I know you said 7 -7'6 and this rod is 7ft and does what you require and very well. It is meant for Flats fishing unweighted. Email me if you want to know more.. sales@blackdiamondrods.com |

Carol was close with the manuacturer being right but the model isnt in the list. Sadly, I cant name the model but it is a hastings.
Lucky enough I have one here in my hands! Its actally a duffrod built by steve duff in Victoria. 7'6 and1-3kg, its a bit of a stick, with quite a thick butt. I have to say its an amazing rod though. Built for flats fishing with hb's it has a moderate taper, but i also fished it in a number of tournaments earlier this year and late last year with plastics and its sensitivity was unreal. So good ive incorporated the design into all my custom rods apart from the one off the rack rod I own. Choice of guides and grip setups too. I have a price if you want it, but its not cheap. Though the finishing on it is very very nice. The only other thing i can say is that for fishing tiny plastics on flats you may not find a 7'6 to be right. Great for hards and larger ripping plastics on the flats and if you could get used to the size of it then maybe unweighted plastics could be an option. You might be better suited to try a seven footer, but this one seems to work fine for me. |

The one I got built recently is a P-UR610 cut down to 6'2". The next to come is a P-UR70UL cut to 6'6", both great for SPs but I think i would prefer this 2nd one for more a HB rod or both you could say.

Hey mate
You could always get in touch with Fats212. He's got a 1 - 3kg 7ft Flats Ranger for sale in the classifieds and I think he has about $230 on it at the moment. That's a steal in anyones language. Gaff

Thanx guys. Maybe I will go 7 foot.
Dave; It can be either a rod or blank, I would prefer a rod. Cindy; Cheers for the offer, but I don't have the $$$ right now for a SX-40, let alone a rod! lol. I always put research into expensive products, so I wanted to compare all the blanks/rods available and then choose. The ultra-short butt will make about as much blank used as a normal grip 7'6" rod.![]() P.S. Is the CCplus flats rod a limited time offer, or is it a normal rod that I can buy later in the year? The only flats rod I can find on your website that fits my needs is the Technus Pro CP at $500... a bit too much. LR; Thanx for the link, I'll take a look at the P-UR70UL model. P.S. To all who want to sell me a rod/blank, thankyou for the offer but I won't have the $$$ for a while...unless it's free lol. Sadly, the rod is on the waiting list after a couple of other things that I need sooner (reels, line ect.). At my rate, I will be on the arket towards the end of the year, a long time I know, but you have no idea how strapped for cash I am!

Hi Fisherman,
That rod is not our site - but I have a fair few left (limited edition) and if you want to order one later it would be possible. Good luck with your choices and as Gaffer has stated, there's a Flats one for sale at a good price. Of course you said cash was a problem so..... Thanks, Cindy |

how about a fly fishing rod?
arnt they made to cast a hook with feathers on that weights almost nothing? i use a fly rod some times, its a 8 ft 6, came from a camping shop less that $100. its like a whip and light too. 8 ft 6 may be a bit too long what your after but it can be cut back. cheers ben |

Deacon beat me to it. The Bream Buster Ultra Finesse has all the requirements you are after. I absolutely love mine and use it for unweighted plastics and up to about 1/16th heads. It casts a mile and has unbelievable sensitivity. The other up side is that you can have it built with what ever guides, grips or real seat you would like. Worth a look when you are ready to buy.
Cheers, Dror

The Egrell Dezignz "Egrell S1" is 7' 1-3kg and designed to cast 1/64th-3/16th (0.5-5g) which is pretty much perfect for your application. Super light, Titanium Silicon Guides and awesome craftsmenship.
