Which 2000 size Daiwa to buy?

Hi guys
I can't decide which 2000 size Daiwa to buy (I would like it to be made in Japan)

Which one?
Luvias, Airity, Certate

I haven't tried the Finesse model how are they?

Will be targeting Bream and matched to a 7 foot rod 2-4kg

i have 2506 airity, very nice indeed. would happily buy another airity no probs, teamed up with 6lb BassHard goes very nicely chasing the Bream.
Don't discount the SOL's though, they are a very good reel for the price although you said you wanted one made in Japan.
I would go the Airity over the Certate (have used both), jmo. Haven't had the chance to play with the Luvias though, I would say they are very nice though.

cheers

Thanks for the advice

I am trying to convince myself if the $600 price tag is worth it for the Certate Finesse 2004

Or spend around $400 and get some more lures

You really have to give all options atleast a bit of a play, especially when investing that much.

Also see which one feels best/balances well on the rod that you have chosen mate.

I'm sure you'll be more than happy with any of those 3!

Cheers

reels

exactly what ruski said, balance it up first and then choose.

i've got both a certate 2000 and a airity 2500. both are fantastic reels and love them very much. They are two different reels and i like that about them. they both ARE GOOD IN DIFFERENT WAYS BUT IN THE END IT COMES DOWN TO THE ANGLER AND HOW HE USES THEM.

1. Airity 2500 ( magnesium, with 7kg of drag you can use it for bigger fish)

2. Certate 2000 ( instead of buying the finess model you can buy the certate 2000 and get another spool for the same price)

2a. Steez ( blody awsome reel if you want to pay a little bit extra)

3. Airity 2506/2000 (magnesium, Great bream reels)

4. certate 2004 (awsome reel)

5. Emraldes 2506 ( awesome reel if you like the colours)

6. Luvias ( this is still a awesome reel but would be my last option because it's a bit outdated by other reels.)

If you buy a magnesium reel you're getting a lighter and pretty strong reel but just remember that you have to take more care of it because it's magnesium. But that doesn't mean that if you buy a certate you don't take care of it.

In the end it's all up to you mate

Regards mattie

I've used a few different daiwas now and the certate remains my favourite ( at this stage ), mainly because of the tight, solid feel of it and how smooth it's remained after a lot of hard use.
The luvias is basically a base model of the airity, with less bearings and although they are a top reel, they are a bit "yesterday" now.
Overall, I think it depends if you prefer a lightweight reel or a slightly heavier reel and what sort of line capacity do you need ? I like the concept of the shallow spools, but where I fish you just never know what you'll hook next so the more line on the spool the better.

Hi guys
Thanks for the advice

I know about balancing the rod with the reel, just trying to justify the money for the reel Certate Finesse 2004.

Got an email for the rod builder and he says a 1500 to 2500 reel, he has a 2000 size Daiwa matched to the rod. Egrell Rodz.

I just wanted some thoughts about the performance of the Daiwas and history.

Thanks
PS Will have a play around with some reels on the rod.

I ran my 2000 Luvias on a 2-5kg Egrell 'Bear' and it felt schmick.
Then I went out again the next weekend with a Daiwa 2500 (Forgotten model name but it's a cheaper one ~$100) on the Bear (this time with heavier line chasing heavier quarry) and again it felt great.
The difference in weight was hardly noticible on this rod (whereas it is greatly noticible on other rods I have.)
The rod performed outstandingly even though I haven't yet really put it to it's limits.

It's going to be hard to 'match' a reel to a rod that you don't have yet and that isn't something that is easily found in stores, but I honestly can't imagine any of the reels you've listed will be a let down.

Simmsy: Did you manage to use all of the 150m Bass Hard on the Airity 2506 or did you have a lot of line leftover? I'm wondering what to spool the 2506 with. Not keen on having 50m of Bass Hard line left because the 2506 can only take 100m...

Desmond:

It sort of depends how what you intend to use the reel for and how much line ideally you'd want to have on it.
If you want something solid and smooth and one you can use in saltwater with full confidence and weight is thatmuch of a factor, then the certate 2000 is the one.

If you're going to use it only for breaming and you're looking to pair the reel to a super light rod like a GLX where you'd want a reel as light as possible, then the airity or luvias is the one. Being "yesterday's" item, the disadvantages are spare spools are next to impossible to come by, the airity spool is not interchangeable with luvias spool, whereas under Real Four, you could interchange spools between Certate, Caldia Kix, Exist etc..

The Certate Finesse is if you'd want most of the characteristics of the certate but want it lighter (only slightly) plus some bonus features like the machine cut handle, an extra BB... Also a good choice if you're thinking perhaps you'd want to get the RCS spool for 1500 size or 2000 for heavier lines. However, the 2004 spool won't take very much line, 100 yards of 4 pound fireline or 130+ yards of 2 lb braid, so if you're thinking 6 pound line, you might end up using only half a spool of the standard 125yd fireline.

Hi Guys

Got my rod last night feels awesome and the detail to the finish is great. It is a unique rod.

I put my Daiwa 2000 Tierra on it (245g) and it felt a little bit heavy, then I put the Stradic 1000 (225g) on and I think it is a good match for weight. Maybe a lighter reel (~200g) would be also a better option.

I want to use 4lb 150 yards FINS PRT line (can a whole spool fit on the Certate 2004 Finesse?) and go ultra light. Mainly target is Bream.

I am leaning towards the Certate 2004 Finesse and then get a RCS spool (2000 size for more line).

Also I don't want to upgrade later (reel) and spend more money , I want to invest in the best reel so that it will last for a few years (3-5).

There's always the Certate Finesse 2506 but that weighs the same as the Certate 2000. Advantage with this is you could get the RCS spool of the 2500 or 2508 for 8 pound line or 10 pound line for the bigger things.
As for the 2004, I've never spooled 4 lb FINS on a 2004 spool, I've only seen 2lb braid spooled on it, but my guess would be you wouldn't get more than 100m into the 2004 spool.

Great to hear your happy with the rod.

As Eric mentioned a 2000 size reel is very well suited. I'm currently running Caldia Kix 2000's through my rods.

My honest opinion is that any reel up to about 230grams will feel great with that rod. I'd personally go a 2004 Certate Finesse and maybe buy a 2000 spare spool so that I have more versatility should I decide I want to chase some Salmon, Tailor, etc. The Certate's are built so strong and solid, I'm sure they will last a long time mate!

If you only run a rod or 2 go the whole hog!

Either Exist or Steez. Light and the best I have owned.

NOw only if the Morethan Branzino came out in a 2000 size instead of just 3000's. I can't wait to see my new little puppies once they land in the country! Perfect match with my Miller Beast Busters!
