Slide-in/out treble hooks or slide-in double hooks

I'm trying to source the slide-in treble hooks which do not require split rings to attach to a hardbody. I prefer trebles but I'll settle for the double hooks as well. The double hooks are the kind you can find on some River2Sea Bubble pops.

I took a picture of a slide-in treble that i got from a Yo Zuri snap bean lure.

Anyone know where we can get those?

See if I can attach the photo of the treble I'm talking about.. Basically its like a double hook with an additional hook joined to one of the hooks and you can slide the single unattached section onto a hardbody.

The only clip in trebles I can remember in Australia were by VMC.

I just looked in the VMC Master Catalogue and there are 2 models 9607 and 9608 the 9607 is available down to a size 12 and the 9608 is available down to a size 8.

The bad news however is that neither of these appear in the Australian wholesalers price list.

Ian.

Hi CHUNQX,

I was lucky to find a small box of VMC slide in doubles at a store over here in Perth, but they were really old stock apparently no longer available. I had a bit a a hunt around for small bream sized slide in doubles and couldn't find them anywhere in Australia.

I did manage to locate some in the US but they wanted a bulk order that was just too many hooks and $$ for my needs.

But these hooks in the US were also VMC, so I'd contact VMC.

Also, Rio Prawn lures are fitted with bream sized Stainless Steel doubles, maybe contact them and ask how to get some replacement hooks for their lures. You could also contact River2Sea with similar request.

The doubles are really good for making your HB lures snag proof, the two hooks face up with no third hook facing down to get snagged

If you locate any doubles please PM me with the details as I'd be really keen to get some

Cheers

Karl

Hey CHUNQX,

Here's some more info. to help your search

The US company that sell the doubles is called "P & S Fishing Tackle" web site address is:

http://www.psfishing.com

The guy that was going to send me the hooks was Peter Valershteyn, and his e-mail address is:

peter@psfishing.com

The hooks are called CAMTEC Speci doubles and come in sizes 1/0 down to size 8.

Check out the the pic. nuber 3. is the double.

"CAMTEC Speci are high-tech hooks sharpened in a chemical process and using laser technology."

I also found some Mustad doubles in bream size:

Mustad 7826 - Double Hook

But I could'nt manage to locate any in Australia

The Rio's Prawn lure doubles are called:

C/W No.8 Double hook

But I never got anywhere with sourcing these either

I hope this info. helps

Good Luck, it'd be great if you located some

Cheers

Karl

The slide on hooks on the R2S poppers are made by Daiachi.

Doubles are also known as "salmon doubles", an internet search should find them, I think Mustad were the only suppliers in OZ last time I looked for them.

Swoffa found some a while back, see this thread.

Depending on the fish they seem to have an uncanny knack of removing the hook from the loop.

After a lost a mackeral and a lost tuna I ceased using the slide on doubles on large hooks settling for singles even.
