rod help please

g'day fellow breamers,

I am in the market for a new rod, and would really appreciate some advice.

Now being a poor student I can only really afford/justify something in the price range of around 100-120 dollars. I am am aware of a number of rods that have been recommended previously - silstar hi-graph, flueger trion, raiders, struddie's, pin points, dropshots etc etc etc, the list is long. I am intersested in any opinions of people that own and use rods in this price range, have used them, and all the tackle rats out there that know alot about this sort of thing.

I have previously used a rack raider, which was a little stiff/ slow tapered in the tip for my (maybe peculiar)liking. I would be using it as an allrounder - but i tend to use hb's more regularly. I am land-based, so 6'6, 7'0 sort of range.

I would really appreciate if people could let me know which rod they feel is the best/favourite rod in their opinion in this price range, as an initial starting point before I do a little tackle shop testing.

Check out the Live Fibre 'Lightning' Bream Spin, $130. it was a serious contender for me in my choice, but in the end i reached a little deeper into my pockets and got a Live Fibre Texalium. I'l preder a 7' rod for LB though but thats just my preference.

yeah i like the penn pin point bot 120$ to 130# great rod light action thats my choice and mine and my mates rod lol.

I have both a berkley dropshot 2-4 kg and a silstar high graph 1-3kg and find them both very nice. The ds is quite stiff, which i like as a personal pref, and it also lends itself to be used for pinks and salmon as well.The high graph is a lighter rod i got for placcies, and has a nice tip that folds away but a fair amount of power in the butt.the only downside to the HG is the guides, with an absence of alconites, which most other rods in the price range have. Although i dont own a pinpoint, they are a very nice rod, and very light for a rod of that caliber.So any of those u cant go wrong.

mate if your on abudget i think the best rod for hundred bucks would be a berkley dropshot i have one and have daught everything on it and they are very sensitive

where did you get the pin point form breamstar? I've looked for it in the past at a few places and none of them stocked it?

hey cambo got mine from anglersworld in vicpark next to the motorbike shop on the corner went there yesterday and they had a few there very nice rod
feels nice with a big fish on the end lol.
130$ tops you will pay

yeh they are one hell of a Great rod good for there cost 2-4kg pinpoint.

hi i was wondering if you wanted to by a combo or not. if bying a combo uglystick and if u are looking for a rod maby a shakespere i think sharimno do that rod
