Clip swivel...or Knot??

I fish Fireline down to a 2m long mono leader (joined by a uni-knot) but something that has always bothered me is whether to use a small clip swivel or to tie straight onto the lure...particularly hard-bodied

Sometimes the lure seems effected by the swivel and as breamin is all in the presentation...is it better to tie a perfection loop or something? What do the rest of you do?

With the sneaky 35's does the wieght of the clip effect the action of the lure given that is supposed to suspend

A big yes to loops with hard bodies. It makes a difference to the way it swims.

Amazing to think that the position of the knot can efect the lure, but it makes a big difference.

The position of the knot, Bear...how so? And which loop knot are you refering too?

go for the perfection loop. I made a change in the Walpole comp' going to a Mustad fly clip and had a shocking run on that Sat. Got busted up a few times even broke one of the clips in half while hooked up and weighed in 1 fish. Probably just a freaky incident but every piece of terminal tackle you use is one more item that can break. On the Sun I went back to the loop and weighed in 5 fish. I have not busted one loop since that day using 6/8/10 lb mono leaders.

Honestly, the knot at the tie on point of a lure can move off centre and to the side. This can be enough to throw some lures off. No joke. If you have access to a pool, run some tests and see what I mean.

I know what Bear means (I think), if you have a stiff leader, different knots lay differently on the standing part of the line and can force the loop to be asymetrical, so that the towning eye of the lure gets a sideways pull, rather than sitting right in the centre of a symetrical loop and getting a perfectly straight pull.

Clip swivel definitely affects 35 mm sneaky. Without clip and swivel it floats, with them it slowly sinks. But it doesn't affect the action as far as I can see. The towing eye is fitted with the split ring on Scorpion, so it doesn't affect the action much and does not put the fish off.

Try also to use the knot shown in every Rapala lure packaging leaflet and recommended by Rapala. Easy to tie and no problem with the knot sliding from the centre of the towing eye.

Hey Guys.
I actually use a small clip when using Hard Bodies. I remove the front treble and split ring, so the extra weight of the clip is nullified. It only works if your one of the guys who removes the front treble.
I prefer this because I can easily and quickly change lures, and not loose so much leader everytime i change lures!
Its up to personal preference. I have fished with Bear and Goeff a few times and the catch rates seem the same! So i have no problems with it!
