Spotters prescription glasses

A big thanks to Doug Phillips at Spotters for the quick response and help this morning. After a good chat about all things Breamin', Spotters have said that they do prescription lenses upon request.

They range from around $340 to $470 for the Penetrators and come with a Spotters pack which includes hat and some other extras.

If you're interested in purchasing a pair you can e-mail your order to spotters@bigpond.com and make sure you send a scanned copy of your required prescription or you can fax it on 039 720 6054.

so far Spotters are the only firm to have responded to my information request, that is the reason they get first post. The other thing is that Spotter glasses are Aussie made and owned.

sweet i was looking at getting some polarised lenses made up from the shop that made my prescription sunnies. i didnt even think about getting them polarised when i had them made

bear can you tell us the price difference between the polarised spotters and regular spotters?? also how long does it take them to be made???

Hi evan. you will need to check with Doug as to final prices, but the Penetrators are normally around $250. They go up to $470 in prescription. Be careful as to the lenses you get from Optoms. There is a big difference between those and Spotters and other fishing specific lenses. Trust me, been there, wish I hadn't.

For the price, I would prefer to go to a specialist.

It doesn't take long to do, but they are busy at the moment.

seems like a pretty big jump upto the prescription ones but i supose to get the best you have to pay the most. maybe ill just get some contact lenses instead and the normal penetrators although you do get a $80 rebate from HBF i think when buying presciption sunnies so maybe that will apply???

Spotters did say that rebates for ancillary benifits do apply.

even, I have some glasses I bought through a Optom and there is very little difference in price. I know which lense I wish I had. Polarizing lenses for prescriptions are not cheap unfortunately.

HI guys,

You are looking at adding about an extra $160-180 if you get lenses polarised from an optometrist, and as I said before you can have them in plastic hard coated to reduce the weight and toughness. You can also get plastic photocromatic lenses and have them polarised, but you need to order the lenses as polarised as it can not be done after the lenses have been cut.

There are a few reputable optometrists in Perth, but I would advise steering clear of the larger chain stores as quality is not high on their priorities. Prices are generally the same or a little cheaper from a smaller shop, and you also get treated as a person and not just an income, as they want you to come back and bring your friends and family.

Gotta agree with you there mate - I sent an email last night about lense/frame combinations, and whether they made the Penetrator Gold with a Photochromic lense (no, by the way) and had a response waiting for me when I got home - now I just need somewhere close to check out the styles I like before I order

Its good to find a company with good service! Its a pity a few more companies don't seem to understand that good service = return business. It is a real win-win situation to quote a management buzz phrase. While I'm on the job of praising I'll say thew same about Warren. Digging up an old thread

Am interested in getting a pair of prescription spotters. Anyone has experience in getting them made in Melbourne? Should I go through a "premium retailer" rather than normal retailer?

How much of it is being covered by private health? I'm with HCF.

Also, am getting it for fishing mainly so presume I should be going for the "Penetrator" lense. Any recommendations on the most comfortable model one? The Nylon Thunder?

Hey mate i have a pair of haze spotters they are very
comfortable and i get no more migraines from wearing there bands compaired
to other brands.
Some other good brands to consider are ..BARZ....REVO...HD SPEX...
ASK HUEY......VISON....O'DONNELL.....MAKO...
all which are great for fishing.
