Tuning
Hi Everyone
i saw a posting where a bibs are being broken and so on, Someone made the comment that the lures where not tuned properlly. Are you talking about the lure swimming straight and you need to tune the eye so it swims sraight? I thought the only problems a poorly tuned lure had was swimming off line and on its side? Yeah that is the general consensus. The idea is that you very slightly bend the eye of the hook, the OPPOSITE way to which the lure keeps turning. It is pretty important to have a straight and true lure action!

really wierd that lures arent tuned or nearly tuned.
I remeber seeing something on a fishing show the halco factory and they where swimming every lure before packaging. I thought stuff like that would be a quality control Cheers Stuie |

Yeah some of the top quality lures are already tested. Deceptions (Paul Kneller is on this site) are hand tested and tuned before packaging. Halco i think are aswell. I hardly ever have to tune lures. Funnily enough, my homemades track straight without any tuning at all! Weird.

You can also change the type of action a lure has by raising or lowering the eye as well. You can do this to change the action from a slow wobble with the lure moving a lot side to side to a fast wobble with only a little sideways movement. I prefer a fast wobble with little sideways movement myself as I reckon you get less bumps & more hookups as its an easier target for the fish.

Could the same apply if you tied a loop knot or a bloodknot at the base and over the rear of the eye? Cheers Stuie |

Less action or more action? Less rolling etc Cheers Stuie |
