Older Apelco Chartplotter - worthwhile?

G'day Fellow Breamers,

I recently picked up an Apelco 7000 Chartplotter for $350. I thought at the time it was a great option because it is in excellant condition and works a treat. Unfortunately the system cannot be updated to later C-maps acording to the C-map people.

I've spent some time playing with the unit and I have to say it seems very user friendly. I guess what I'd appreciate is some thoughts on these type of oldr unit. As I see it the islands don't move a great deal and so the unit could still be a good asset for the general inshore. estury and dam type fishing I do. Appreciate any thoughts.

Cheers

johnc.
