For those of you who haven't already realised, "deception" is Paul Kneller of Deception lures. He is the legend behind the Palaemon.

Paul is a top bloke who is a wealth of knowledge, and a master craftsman.

Try not to bombard him, but I'm sure he would be happy to answer any questions. He would also take on board any problems you may have encountered with Deceptions lures.

I will try to answer as many questions as I can but sometimes with my work load I only get to sit down and visist the site every now and then and it is about to get even more hectic as we have just been appointed Australian agents for Illusion soft plastics out of the U.S. I have been working closely with the owner of Illusion to come up with a range of plastics that will suit a whole host of species but especially Bream. The first order is about to be placed and they will start to trickle into tackle shops shortly( Keep an eye right here for them). I have been fishing with the sample stock for the past few weeks and i have been extremely encouraged by the results. In this first order there is two colour patterns he has never done before but has included them for us and more will no doubt be added. paul

Paul - I fished some 2" Illusion shads for bream about 6 months ago, on 1/16th oz jigheads, and found that unless they were really whipped (not really a finesse action!), the tail wouldn't wobble at all. A 1/8th seemed to be the minimum weight.

Has the plastic been improved since then?

The bigger shads look beaut for barra and the likes, especially the translucent mullet patterns! Rigged on a 1 or 1.5 oz jighead they should go really well...

G'day Chris.
I am not sure why you found that mate. Perhaps they have done some work on them? Because the 2"samples I fished with were used along side 2" Atomic shads and they worked exactly the same. We fished them using a variety of jig heads and found they definately worked better using Nitro bream bullets but only slightly over ball jig heads. We only fished 1/16 oz heads on them (see the pic as my tag). I know the 3" model is made from a tougher grade of plastic and we have spoke of using a more supple grade to maximise wiggle at a slower retrieve. I must admit in the samples I used we could not pick them in feel and action from the 2" Atomic shad. The great thing about the guy behind Illusion's is he not only listens to what you have to say he acts on it as well. I have no doubt that over the coming months/years we will shape Illusion lures to the point you will think they are Australian.

What happened with the Palaemon? I haven't seen it in any Brisbane store and it's no longer available on Bream Master.

Tambo, Thepalemon's are availiable through Warren. They just haven't been put on the online store yet. You'll have to find the thread about them in the Hard Bodies archives.
Warren has been flatout lately as he is opening a shop. All the new gear (masses of it) will eventually be on the online store. Patience is the key i'm afraid!!!
Paleamons are incredibly hard to come by. It has taken Warren a hell of a long time and hard work just to get this batch from Paul.

As Kingpin just said, go to the Palaemon thread in the hard body forum. There is a link imbedded in the first post. We have limited numbers left, and some are sold out.

We have another order coming in the next week or so which has 10 lures of every colour.
