centre consoles

G'day all,
just fished my first comp and loved it. got a couple of fish, learnt heaps and had a ball. Dead keen on gettin a boat now and I saw a quinny 4.2 centre console for sale. do you reckon the console is gonna get in the way too much, or can you fish around it. Still just lookin, got to convince managment first.

cheers.

Russ, I reckon I'd go the centre console, although having said that I havent seen too many around over here at that length.

One I did see was about 4.0 and I would have said that it was too small. A few guys are going with side consoles around the 4.5 length although being on the side they are probably not as intrusive as the centre style.

hey russ

ive got a 4m inflatable center console and i reckon that it is great to fish out of. when you are fishing with 2 people it draws the line between the 2 fishing positions and you never get in eachothers way.

a 4.2 center console would be ideal mines a little small due to the air chambers but being an ally it should be ok- just make sure that there is a stable floor

cheers

Evan

To be honest, I would have thought Centre would have been better as you can then have decks around all sides. It really depends on the size of the boat.

4.5 would be big enough to have as a side and then decks from there. In the end it's worth getting out with a few guys who have something similar and seeing how it feels.

All of the boats I'm interested in such as the Stessl Stinger and Bass Boss put the console as far back as possible giving more front deck space.

Peter Bear on the site has a side console Stessl Truck. Drop him a line and ask away.

HTH.

Talking Centre Console

Russ, I took a 4.35m centre console and moved the console to the side after getting it shortened by the builder. Gives me heaps of fishing room and a comfortable perch from which to drive. With moderate horsepower she flys. You could do the job yourself....
I have also resisted fitting a casting deck (front) to give me better options when fishing out wide and when the kids are with me.
I balanced the boat with a 62 litre live-well opposite the console. I walk between the console and the live-well.

Good luck with management........ha, ha.

dingy world put in for me where i wanted it. i had it put a little bit further forward then stessl would of so i can turn around on the pedestel seats and stay seated [re lazy] while fishing .
the is a sh**t load of room up front to fish from when i get my minn kota.i will have it out on the 22nd when everyones there .

when you stand up in a side console you in the middle of the boat , centreline it is stable ,when you move from the centre console you step to the side and throw the balance out .
just a common view.
peter.
