Nitro Rods

Hows it going guys and girls?

What do you guys think of these rods? They don't seem to get much attention on this site. I've got the 6'6" ultralightspin and i really like it. I had to decide between this and a 1-2kg bluestone but decided on the nitro (just ask bear how long I took to decide).
Just wondering if anyone else here uses them and what they think of them and how they compare to other rods like struddies and the berkley dropshots etc

Cheers,
Zero

I own a 6'6'' SicStiK and it's fantastic! It's fairly crisp, has sufficient butt power for applying a firm amount of pressure on the fish and fuji ''O'' ring guides...Like most bream rod's do.

Over all I think you made the better desicion with the Nitro ultrabream finnesse. A 1-2kilo rod sounds a bit light in my opinion! I havn't held one yet so I spose I can't exactly judge. I have felt the Nitro ultrabream finnesse and they're fantastic rods. Excellent top of the range rods.

A 7'2'' Berkley dropshot rod will be by next backup rod. These are great for their price! Bargain on my account any day!

Ryan.

yeah zero i think the nitros are a really nice rod,i got a 7ft6/cappy 2500 that was origanally bought for BIG flatties but it works ok as a bream stick too, needs to have its butt chopped but its really nice and pegs any weight a mile, imo, similar to a loomis dropshot in makeup.

Hey Zero,

I own a 7 foot powerbream finesse, and I quite like it. It's a pretty seasoned fish fighter now too, having handled things like reasonably tarpon (50-60cm), little GTs up to about 45cm, a barra of 60cm and all sorts of sundry things.

I find they have a very soft tip, so they're not great for hardbodies. Just really lightly weighted soft plastics.

The stripping guide, the largest one is also unusually far forward for a rod of this length, at least when using a 1500 size reel. This is an observation made by Ted (Shortlite) who's a rod builder, and agreed upon by me. This tends to limit the casting abilities of it a little.

I think its overall build delineates it as a flats rod, not really made for fishing in close quarters or the use of hardbodies much larger than say 5cm or so. They're not horribly good for surface lures either, as the soft tip absorbs the movement a little much.

Still, that's only one model of the nitro range, and I find it a very good rod to use overall, though admittedly, I haven't had the chance to sample any others.

Cheers,

Owen

Thanks for the replies. Ryan, i have a 7 foot sic stik which i used for about a year and a bit. Real nice rod but it felt a bit heavy towards te tip, which i dont feel in many other 7 fot rods. stil a sweet stic thogh
The rod ive got isnt an ultrabream it is an ultralighspin, which i checked on the website is what the ultrabream and powerbream (is that the ultra but just beefed up?) is modified from. more of a hb rod than sp but still does oth quite well.
Hey BA i thought you liked the long butt on your distance spin?

Still wondering what they are like next to something like a sic stick pro etc

Thanks again guys

Zero

I own the 6'6'' model Strudwick. Pretty light to me. Mathced with a stradic 1000FH is a perfect match.

What reel have you got on ur SicStik and what do aim to put on ur Nitro?

I do prefer the feel of the SicStik more than the pro's for plastics.

I also find that it's easier to cast with the SicStik for some reason.

the sic stik just feels a bit heavy to me, i dont think many others have a problem with it.

im using a zauber/affinty on my struddy and it does balnce out ok.
for the nitro i use the same reel but when my dad is not here i use his stradic and its a prety good combo.

what nitro have you got Stella boy? i think i saw it yesterday.

done.2500 stella on a 6ft6 ultrabream finesse,i reckon 1500 would be optimum and 2000 would be getting a bit big.
