Suziki 60 four stroke
I was wondering if any of the people on this forum have or have had a Suzi 60 four stroke. I am considering this motor on the boat I have got coming. I have got a bit of saving to do, so I would appreciate all your thoughts and experiences with these motors.

It will be going on a 435 Stessl ( Mako Craft ? ) Edge Tracker Tournament. It should give it bit of get up and go.

Peter Bear has the Suzi 50 4 stroke and swears by it.. I prefer the Yamaha myself.
As with all of the mid range 4's get a stainless prop on it straight away. |

yeh m8 you might want to stick to the rating, there could be some kind of consenquences with insurance claims (god forbid) if you exceeded it. imo
The banger is rated to 60 and is a fair bit longer, but those edgys are wider, so you might wanna find out the specs. You missed out at the hoppies m8, had a good time, hope your car feels better.

The Edgey is rated to 60 and the Suzi 4 just fits under the weight barrier. The transom has bracings or whatever it is called to accomadate the 60 Suzi 4's weight. I think standard they are rated in weight to 120kg. The boat dealer and my self checked everything out and got the extra brace to be safe. As for the bloody car Drewy it's insured for bombing
. Bloody Holden Calais. Man I wanted to be there this weekend too .Troy Last edited by troy-the-boy; 13-06-2005 at 08:52 PM. |

BA it will be a side console, it will be work in progress. We will be putting in twin consoles designed by Watson Marine and my self. When it is all finished by early next year ( budget allowing ) it certainly wont be your average Edgey
. What are people experiences with the power differance between 50 and 60 fours ?.Troy |

Not to many go for the 60hp Suzi ... 2 reasons, much bigger weight AND much bigger price from the 50hp. The Yammie/Merc 60hp fourstroke gets more people for these reasons. The Evinrude E-tec 60hp will be here in September/October, same weight as a 50hp Suzi, more grunt than any fourstroke 60hp and as good as any fourstroke on fuel .... just as quiet too. The $$$$ were similar when I ordered mine Cheers. Whitto

If you really want some grunt go for a high thrust in the yammie(bigfoot merc). They run a bigger gear box and thus a bigger prop.
Think your can get them in a 50 if your boat is not rated for a 60. Daws

Troy,
Ever consider a Honda 50. Only 97 kg, bags of torque, grumble free and as reliable as sunrise. I've run one for the past few months and it is literally bulletproof with great punch out of the hole. I've been running the motor on a 4.5 Seajay Nomad custom. With 3 up, all our batteries and a Minn Kota on the nose....not to mention a full livewell, the rig really gets up and Boogies. There are pros up in QLD with 10 year Honda 50's that haven't missed a beat in over 3000 hours of operation. As for the Etec option, they sound like a good thing at the moment....but so did Ficht and look what that excercise did for OMC. At present Bombadier are buying market share to try to win back business lost in the aftermath. Why else would they have started discounting their product so soon after its release. Remember, cheaper aint always necessarily the best value. Hey, I may be wrong....but do you really want to be a guineapig testing technology that hasn't had time to live up to the advertising hype in the real world??? New World Honda offers a 5 Year Warranty on all Honda Outboards (longest in the business) and backs it up with 2 years of FREE servicing. Ask an Etec Dealer if they'll match it in writing on a contract. That'll show you how much faith they have in their 3 years no servicing claim!!!! Catch you on the water, Angelo |

Honda is carburetored and my Suzuki is EFI ,a lot quieter than the Honda.
the 50 has 3 cylinders and double overhead cams and the rev band is up to 6500 rpm . the 60 is only single cam and revs to 5500 to 6000. that way I'm getting a SS prop to max out,to match prop to hull configuration. JMO.
